Crosstalk: Second Reality · published · build 24816153
Hey there!
Emulation is now in the version of Crosstalk that's slowly coming to Early Access. With emulation, designs can run much faster, trading structural accuracy for a behavioral one, which is cheaper to compute. I am still testing it and there are some issues, but as a benchmark, I tested my Steam-purchased copy of DOOM, which was able to run at 60MHz under emulation (200MHz at CPU idle). And speaking of CPUs ... it no longer runs on an i386-compatible core; it runs on my own architecture + its CPU, the MISC and the DLU, respectively.
The DLU is going to be packaged into Crosstalk and will let players use it on their own. It comes with an LLVM backend, included in the Clang distribution that comes with the game. There is also x86 translation coming, which will have a dedicated dev log once ready to show.
