The main target of this update is Linux performance. Given the wide variety of Linux setups, and my limited testing access, I can't guarantee these fixes will work for everyone -- would much appreciate feedback via email or discord.
The last 1.X version of Following Seas averaged ~30 fps on my Steam deck, while the move to the 0.X setup along with the engine migration dropped things down to 2-3.
Now, after 32 separate testing builds -- I average ~40fps on the steam deck. In terms of cause - it seems the physX changes introduced with Unity 6.X don't play well with Linux, especially when asynchronous scene's with physics objects are present.
I've made a number of backend changes, and am optimistic that this will be a solid improvement for most systems, including PC, where I now reach 140fps on Waypoint.
