The Borderless · published
Hi everyone! It’s been a while since the last update.
I’ve spent that time going through the feedback from the demo and improving the parts of the game that needed more work.
What started as a list of fixes and improvements gradually turned into changes across almost every part of the game, so this update ended up being much bigger than I originally planned.
The UI has been redesigned, the ocean has been rebuilt, building and object editing have been improved, onboarding has been reworked, party mini-games have been added, and the game is now available in 12 languages.
At this point, it almost feels like I’ve built The Borderless a second time.
The entire interface has been rebuilt to make the game clearer, easier to read, and more consistent overall.
The ocean has been rebuilt with new visuals, movement, depth, and underwater atmosphere, giving the island a much stronger sense of being out in the open sea.
The game can now be played in:
English, French, Italian, German, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Turkish, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Polish.
The tutorial and early-game flow have been reworked based on player feedback, with clearer guidance and a new Quick Guide that you can check whenever you need a reminder.
Parties are now more interactive. Once a party begins, you can take part in mini-games around the party area.
Building now uses a snap grid for more consistent placement, while free placement is still available if you prefer it.
The old removal system has also been expanded, so you can now choose to move an object directly or return it to your inventory.
The core gameplay loop and balancing have received another pass, along with many smaller improvements throughout the game.
I’ve also added more keyboard shortcuts, reorganized the Shop into clearer categories, improved ultrawide support, added a separate volume setting for party music, and fixed a lot of bugs and smaller usability issues.
And there are quite a few smaller changes that didn’t make it into this list.
A lot of this update came directly from the feedback I received from people who played the demo, so thank you to everyone who took the time to play, report issues, and share their thoughts.
If you played The Borderless before, I’d really like to hear how this version feels in comparison.
I hope you enjoy the update!
I’m also planning to bring The Borderless into Early Access before the end of the year, so there’s still more to come.
