1.8 — Guests in group calls, without surprises

VantGrid · published

Group calls can now welcome someone from outside the group without giving up control.

New

  • Invite friends outside the group: members can request an invitation and the host can approve or deny it. The host can also open invitations for the current room.
  • Guests know what they are joining: the invitation identifies the group, sponsor and host, and explains that the guest joins only the call — not the group or its history.

Connections and clarity

  • A more reliable group mesh: fixed cases where a guest connected to part of the room but disappeared from the host while a direct link was rebuilding.
  • Recovery you can see: VantGrid retries interrupted direct links within a clear limit. If recovery fails, it explains that the person may still be connected to others and lets you try again.
  • Cleaner room state: pending invitations stay separate from connected participants, and people who leave no longer remain stuck in the room list.

Everything still travels peer-to-peer. VantGrid does not store records of your calls.
