Update 0.2.236 - August 10, 2026

Wallpaper Animator · published

The most-asked-for change since the limits shipped: you can now buy extra animations. The free allowance also grew, and got faster.

New

  • Buy extra animations - packs of 5, 10, or 20 through Steam, at $1 per animation (roughly what one animation costs us to render). Bought animations never expire and stack on top of the free allowance. The "More animations" link sits in the studio, next to "Why the limits?".

Improvements

  • The free animation allowance grows faster: after the initial daily phase you get a new animation every 3 days instead of one a week, and new accounts start with 5 animations instead of 3.
  • Animations render about twice as fast, and the queue countdown reflects the new speed.
  • New themed rows on Discover, built from what the community has been creating.

Fixes

  • (Windows) If Windows' own slideshow or Spotlight rotation is active, the app no longer imports a random rotated still at startup instead of restoring your saved wallpaper.
  • (Windows) Animated wallpapers no longer capture the keyboard media keys or show up as a media player, so play/pause reaches your music app again.
  • Fixed faint ghosting artifacts on parts of some animations.
  • Various stability and reliability improvements.
