Rebrand & Game update - Susdoku

SusDoku: Clues & Suspects · published

Rebranding to SusDoku

If you have been following our development, you may have noticed our new name. We have evolved the title to better reflect the essence of the project: a pure and challenging Sudoku experience focused on suspects, combined with the investigation mechanics we all love. The same mystery as always, now with a new identity!

New: Interrogate the Suspects

Investigation Cases are now more interactive. Once the board has been solved, suspects will display a small animated speech bubble. Select them directly on the board to hear their statements. The text appears progressively as each character speaks, accompanied by brief dialogue sounds. If a suspect has multiple statements, they will deliver them together. As a result we have temporary retired Classic mode to focus SusDoku on its true identity: investigating crime scenes, uncovering evidence and weapons, interrogating suspects, and solving cases through logical deduction.

Deeper Investigation Cases

Investigation Cases on Medium and Hard difficulty now feature four possible murder weapons and keep more suspects involved in the final deduction. Statements are now clearer and more natural. The murderer may combine one true claim with one false claim, as long as their complete statement remains false. In advanced cases, neither a single statement nor a pair of statements can directly reveal the murder weapon. Reaching the solution requires a longer chain of deductions.Six New Murder Weapons

  • Shotgun

  • Broken bottle

  • Poisoned syringe

  • Raven paperweight

  • Rolling pin

  • Glass ashtray

Each weapon is classified as a firearm, sharp weapon, poison, or blunt weapon.

Generator Improvements

  • Rooms now contain furniture appropriate to their purpose.

  • Up to 20% fewer chairs.

Investigation Notebook

The Investigation Notebook is disabled by default during the interrogation phase, making testimonies more difficult to track and remember.

  • Disabled: Interrogate suspects directly on the board. Outdated notes and the notebook disappear after solving the board.

  • Enabled: Restores the previous system, displaying statements in the Detective Notes and the notebook.

This option can be changed at any time from Settings.

Clue highlights

By default, the game highlights elements related to a clue when you hover over it. This helps you solve the case and get used to the game's objects. This feature is enabled by default but can be switched off.

Keyboard, Mouse, and Controller Improvements

  • The cursor remains on the board while you interrogate suspects.

  • Press A or Enter while highlighting a suspect to talk to them.

  • A suspect under the cursor takes priority over confirming the weapon.

  • Press B or Escape to close the conversation.

  • Windows with a close button can also be closed by clicking outside them.

  • Control prompts now adapt to the Investigation Notebook setting and the current phase.

Improvements and Fixes

  • Some users reported issues when launching the game. These were caused by external processes conflicting with the Godot engine. A patch has been implemented to resolve the issue.

  • Some maps could become impossible to solve when the random generator took too long.

  • Improved sound and visual settings.

  • Improved navigation sounds for the menus, Progress, Settings, and confirmation dialogs.
