  1. Quest Giver Marker

NPCs that have a quest available for you — or one you're already on with an objective ready to turn in — now show a gold "!" over their head, so you can spot them at a glance instead of talking to everyone in town to check. The marker is personal to your own quest progress, so it'll only show up on NPCs that actually have something for you specifically, and clears itself the moment there's nothing left to do there.

    Idle Disconnect

Characters that go 15 minutes without travelling anywhere are now disconnected. You'll get an on-screen warning two minutes before, and walking a short distance resets the timer — so if you're at your keyboard, a few steps is all it takes to stay connected. Only actual movement counts. Fishing, gathering, eating, casting, chatting, and fighting from a fixed spot don't reset the timer on their own, and neither does a single step in place. This is deliberate — it's what stops unattended scripts from farming skills overnight while parked in one place, which devalues the time everyone else spends actually playing. If you're doing something legitimate that keeps you stationary for a long stretch, the two-minute warning gives you plenty of room to react.

    New Character Panel

The character panel in the top-left corner has been rebuilt around new artwork — a gemmed frame with your portrait set into the ring on the left and four bars running across it.

    • All four of your vitals now live in the panel together: health, mana, experience, and food, each in its own channel next to a matching gem.

The panel drags as a single unit the way it always has. If you had previously dragged the old experience bar somewhere, that saved position is discarded — the bar now lives in the panel.

Fishing Casts Take a Moment to Settle

  2. Your line now takes a short, slightly unpredictable moment to settle before you find out what you caught, instead of resolving the instant it lands. Nothing about your catch rates, the fish table, or fishing XP has changed.

    Movement & Pathing Fixes

Mobs should no longer get stuck against walls and other blocking objects. A mob that brushed geometry while chasing could freeze in place for several seconds at a time — sometimes indefinitely — instead of walking around it. Mobs now recover immediately and slide along obstacles the way they used to. Click-to-walk is more reliable too. Clicks that used to do nothing, or paths that quietly stopped partway to the destination when something got in the way, now route around the obstruction instead of giving up.

    • Fixed players and mobs being unable to path out after ending up flush against a wall or inside a doorway.

Raid bosses drop more loot for bigger groups

Raid bosses (Grimroot, the Rat King, and Lord Valdrak) now grant bonus loot rolls based on how many players took part in the kill — a party of 6 walks away with meaningfully more loot than a party of 2. Every other mob's drop odds are unchanged.

    Shielding Changes

Shielding has been rebalanced to stop it being trained by standing still in a ring of weak monsters.

    • Your chance to block now drops the more enemies are attacking you at once. A shield only covers one angle at a time — fighting one enemy is completely unchanged, but surrounded by a dozen, most of their hits will get through.

    • As a result, parking yourself in a crowd of monsters and walking away is no longer safe. Enough attackers will now wear you down and kill you.

  3. Shielding skill that was clearly gained this way has been corrected. Rather than resetting the skill for everyone, we compared each character's shielding against their actual combat skill and only reduced accounts that were far out of line — and even those keep part of what they gained. If you trained your shielding by genuinely fighting things, your skill is untouched.

    Fixes

  4. Fixed a broken quest link that made Aldric's "Accept Next Quest" button silently do nothing after turning in Fresh Blood, which could leave you stuck without his third quest offered. Talking to him directly still worked as a fallback, but the popup button is fixed now too.

    • Fixed the "Welcome to Grimveil" popup showing up off-center on some screens. You can now also reopen it any time with F1, in case you want another look at the keyboard shortcuts or tips.

    • Fixed successfully creating a new account incorrectly showing an error message on the login screen instead of taking you into character select. Nothing was ever wrong with the account — this was purely a client display bug.

    • Fixed deliberate disconnects (idle, admin kicks, and logging in on a second character) being immediately undone by the client automatically reconnecting you.

    • Fixed the reason for a disconnect sometimes being dropped, leaving you with a generic "lost connection" message instead of an explanation.

    • Fixed the action bar's hotkey numbers, spell names, and other slot text being tiny and never responding to the Font Size setting. The whole action bar — slot icons included — now grows a bit at Font Size 150% and up, maxing out at 1.5x around 200%.

    • New characters now start with a clean action bar showing only the spells they actually have at level 1 (e.g. a Knight starts with just Shield Slam and Battle Cry), instead of a bar pre-filled with spells you can't use yet. Check your spellbook as you level up to see what's newly available.

    • The ` key no longer hides the action bar by default — it was easy to hit by accident and confusing when the bar vanished. You can still bind a key for it yourself in the keybinding editor.

  5. Reaching level 20 now shows a heads-up banner reminding you that death starts costing XP (outside of PvP) and a random equipped item (unless you're wearing a backpack) from here on. It's a quick fade-in/fade-out notice that never grabs your mouse or keyboard, so it won't get you killed if it pops up mid-fight — the same warning is also logged to your chat log in case you miss it in the heat of battle.

    • Fixed a rare server crash (and reconnect for everyone online) that could happen when a mob's aggro target disconnected or despawned at just the wrong moment.

    • Fixed AoE mob abilities (e.g. Gnoll Templar's Radiant Burst) damaging and stunning other nearby mobs instead of only hitting players.

    • Fixed the Quest Complete popup and Trade window being too small on 4K/high-res monitors and not respecting the UI font-size slider.

    • Fixed the starter pack sometimes failing to grant silently, leaving new characters unable to claim it (the claim button would just do nothing on retry).

    • Fixed repeatedly interacting with an already-opened quest chest spamming errors instead of showing "already opened".

    • Fixed the trade window clipping the item grids on the left and right after its recent size increase.
