I am very happy to have released the game earlier this week, and I would now like to share the first update with you. Please share your thoughts, suggestions, or any issues in the community forum!
This release brings improvements across adventure pacing and consistency, character creation, quest management, and the user interface.
Adventure Pacing and Consistency
- The Game Master now prioritizes moving quests forward and keeps story events grounded in what's actively happening — fewer tangents, more progress.
- Actions are now guided by your character's health state. If you're badly hurt or exhausted, it's less likely the game will accept unrealistic actions.
- Party members can no longer die — health now floors at 1 instead of 0, so they can be incapacitated but will stay with you. That was already the case before, but now it is displayed more consistently.
- Location transitions have smoother context so the Game Master knows where you're heading.
- Forced actions no longer leak into subsequent turns.
Quests
- Quest objectives are broader and more meaningful, drawing on recent adventure events and long-term memories for better continuity.
- Quests now have a "TODO" status — you can mark quests you want to pick up later without losing sight of them.
- Quick action buttons on quest cards let you toggle a quest's active status, advance to the next objective, or mark it complete directly from the quests window.
- Long quest titles are now truncated with an ellipsis so the UI stays tidy.
Character Creation
- Characters now support a "Misc Notes" field for capturing any details that don't fit other aspects.
- Aspect generation prompts have been refined for clearer, more detailed character traits.
- Character headings are generated in a consistent, descriptive format.
- The combat style field properly supports multiline text.
UI Improvements
- Text input dialogs now have a "Clear" button for quick edits.
- The party step rendering in the Adventure Assistant has been improved for better layout and readability.
- Fixed in the Location Editor when action buttons, adjacency features, and the memory button are enabled.
- The error message when connecting to the local backend is now clearer, explicitly mentioning "localhost" so you know what to allow through your firewall.
