This update brings a substantial collection of improvements to crafting, Items, dice mechanics, the Context Panel and general gameplay flow, alongside several important fixes and quality-of-life changes.
CRAFTING & ITEMS
- Crafting now gives clear confirmation when an Item is successfully crafted. The Craft button briefly changes to a confirmed state before returning to normal.
- The Crafting Window now preserves your scroll position after crafting instead of unexpectedly jumping upward.
- SILVER BAR has been added as a craftable Item for 2 Totems. Once crafted, it is placed in your Item Inventory and can be used through USE ITEM to upgrade an eligible owned Unit directly to Silver.
- EXTRA INTERACTION has been added as a one-use crafted Item costing 1 Totem.
- EXTRA INTERACTION allows another interaction with your current space while maintaining access to eligible Items during that additional interaction.
- COMPANION and EXTRA INTERACTION can no longer be activated on START or CHECKPOINT.
- COMPANION retains its normal restriction against opening another Item-use opportunity during its repeated interaction.
- Crafted Item artwork and inventory presentation have been improved, including the correct UPGRADE WISH card appearing within the Crafting Window.
DICE & REPEAT ROLLS
- DOUBLES DIE and TRIPLES DIE have been expanded. Players can now select the matching result they want from the crafted die rather than being locked into a single outcome.
- Matching rolls involving additional dice now properly support DOUBLES, TRIPLES, SUPER, ULTRA and MASTER repeat rolls.
- When a repeat roll contains more than two dice, the Context Panel now allows you to remove dice one at a time before rolling again, down to the standard minimum of two.
- You can also choose to REST and decline an earned repeat roll.
- The correct number of earned dice is now preserved throughout repeat-roll sequences.
- Repeat-roll and crafted-dice selections are synchronised correctly for multiplayer and reconnecting players.
CONTEXT PANEL & GAMEPLAY FLOW
- PICK UP selections have been moved into the Context Panel flow rather than relying on a separate popup.
- Using PICK UP on an upgraded Unit now correctly transfers the corresponding Upgrade Bar into the player's Item Inventory and consumes the PICK UP Item.
- The old bottom-right ACTION REQUIRED recovery dock has been removed. Minimized gameplay actions are now resumed through the existing Context Panel flow for a cleaner interface.
- Context Panel interaction handling has been tightened to better distinguish normal repeated interactions from crafted EXTRA INTERACTION behaviour.
ENDOWMENT & UPGRADING
- ENDOWMENT now supports compatible Copper, Silver and Gold Bars during its Unit upgrade flow.
- Eligible Upgrade Bars are consumed authoritatively from the player's inventory when used.
- Bot and multiplayer handling for these upgrade choices has also been improved.
TROPHY CHANGES
- Purchasing the TROPHY no longer immediately triggers victory.
- The Trophy is now placed into the purchaser's Item Inventory.
- It can then be activated through USE ITEM during a subsequent own-turn, before rolling.
- This creates a deliberate window between acquiring the Trophy and using it to secure victory.
PITFALL FIXES
- Successfully escaping the PITFALL now correctly clears the temporary three-die escape state.
- The residual third escape die will no longer incorrectly remain available after escaping.
- An intentionally activated EXTRA DIE remains preserved where appropriate.
NO HONEY STATUS
- Reverse passes across START or CHECKPOINT can now apply a stackable NO HONEY status.
- While affected, the player cannot receive the associated pass or landing Honey rewards.
- Multiple penalties can stack.
- One stack is removed whenever the player completes a normal forward pass.
- The status is synchronised across multiplayer, save and reconnect flows and is displayed alongside other player statuses.
LOCALISATION & POLISH
- Improved localisation import configuration to ensure the intended language resources are generated correctly.
- Corrected an import issue affecting Italian localisation registration.
- Updated affected Item, gameplay and UI localisation strings across supported languages.
- Various interface, multiplayer synchronisation and gameplay-state consistency improvements have been made throughout the update.
Thanks for continuing to play, test and help shape MISFORTUNATE during Alpha!
There is plenty more still being built behind the scenes.
