With Early Access barreling toward us this December and the Steam Next Fest around the corner, we've been busy laying down the foundations for a proper release. This update fills in a bunch of the essentials: keybindings, a new translation system, and movement animations that now play for every piece type. There's also a shiny new World Map you can pull up while roaming the open world. All of it is live in the Demo right now. So you can jump in and feel the difference ahead of the December Early Access release.
Previously, all of our party members already had movement animations. But out in the overworld, those animations only showed up if you were playing with a controller. Now those animations have been completely reworked. They play everywhere, for every piece, no matter how you're getting around. Sliders lean, jumpers hop, and everybody moves with a lot more life, whether you're on a controller, keyboard, or clicking around with your mouse.
As a small hobbyist team based in California, few things get us more fired up than seeing the game reach players around the world. Some of our earliest and most passionate fans come from Europe and other corners of the globe, and we want them to enjoy the game just as fully as our English-speaking players do.
So we've built out a translation system from the ground up. It lets us plug in new languages down the line and translate every line of dialogue and every menu into whatever language you play in. (A quick heads-up: some text is baked directly into the artwork and isn't translated yet, but we may still get to those images in the future.)
First up: German! Germany is our most-wishlisted country after the US, so it felt like the natural place to start. You can switch to it right now from the options menu on the main title screen. And it won't be the last, we've got more languages on the way before the December release, so tell us which one you'd like to see next!
As a quality-of-life update, you can now remap both the keyboard keys and the controller buttons to whatever setup feels right to you. You'll find the keybindings menu under the options button (the gear icon) on the main title screen.
You can now pull up a World Map any time you're out in the open world, much like the party menu. It charts the different biomes across the greater world, unveiling them as you explore.
