Hey there, heroes of the gaming world!

It’s been a couple of weeks since we released our groovy game Pixel Ripped 1978! Things have been great, with new players coming in daily! But you know, our game is about getting bugs fixed so what’s better than us fixing some tiny stuff as well?

On this first patch, we have not only bug fixes but also some balancing and things to get the Pixel ‘78 even more polished. Why not?

So, without further ado, on patch 1.1.0.375 we’ll get:

Balancing

  • Third Boss balancing
    Made the third chapter boss a bit easier to avoid frustration. The main change was a 25% increase in barrier respawn time to give the player a bigger window to hit the boss.
  • Final Boss Meteor Delay
    Increased last boss' meteor shot delay.
  • Removed slower movement speed
    Well, that’s kinda self-explanatory.

Bug Fixing

  • Growing Trees
    Fixed a bug that allowed players to walk through pixelable palm trees before the object was completed.
  • Farofa 83 Temples
    Fixed Far-of-a-Land temple having no collider.
  • Teleport Progression
    Fixed an issue that could halt Grave Yar progression when using the teleport movement.
  • Mission Object Release
    Fixed an issue that could cause mission objects to be released when they shouldn’t.
  • Progression Inconsistencies
    Fixed an issue where players needed to deliver a mission object again if they left the scene before grabbing the reward, among other inconsistencies when changing between worlds.
  • Grab pose on Dot's Toy
    Tweaked the grab pose on Dot's Doll.
  • Grab Pose on Michelle's Distraction Stamp
    Tweaked the grab pose on Michelle's Distraction Stamp.
  • Grab pose on Melee Weapons
    Tweaked the grab pose on a few melee weapons.
  • Duplicated dog
    Fixed an issue where after delivering the Code Stone, a duplicated dog appears inside a rock in Far-of-a-Land (we still love dogs tho. Dogs are never enough in real life!).
  • NPC blocking house
    Fixed NPC not properly blocking the entrance to the house next to the Tavern in Far-of-a-Land.
  • Missing Subtitles
    Fixed missing subtitles for some office voice lines.
  • Openings in Grave Yar
    Blocked passages next to the collectable baseball bat and near the end of the level.
  • Silence at the end of voice cameo calls
    Removed silence at the end of voice cameo calls affecting subtitle duration.
  • Openings in Bentley’s Quest
    Fixed player being able to walk behind the Castle and fixed some overlapping objects.
  • Enemy moving through walls
    Fixed Red Robot ignoring walls when returning to its original position.
  • Persistent Progress Bar in final scene
    Fixed persistent player sync progress bar after defeating the boss.
  • Enemies Final Boss
    Fixed enemies not resetting after player death in Final Boss.
  • Sound Pixel Stone Forged
    Fixed sound of the Pixel Stone being forged occuring every time you return to Far-of-a-Land after the credits.
  • Dot puke
    Added the sound of Dot puking after drinking beer.
  • Wrong SFX in Intro
    Removed wrong SFX playing when Master arrives in the intro scene.
  • General code fixes
    Code fixes to prevent errors.
  • Far-of-a-Land Music Area Bounds
    Fixed triggers that changed music in Far-of-a-Land.
  • Frog Shadow
    Fixed frog in Bentley’s Quest having a static shadow when moving.
  • Haptics speech box
    Removed the haptic feedback that occurred when advancing a speech box while jump was unavailable.
  • Final Boss Meteor
    Fixed the meteor being interrupted and falling elsewhere after canceling the Boss's special attack.
  • Wrong Cartridge in the final scene
    Fixed the wrong cartridge art and title screen for Pixel Ripped in the final Basement scene.
  • Destruction Particles
    Fixed missing VFX when destroying objects in the 3D world.
  • Stamp Release
    Fixed hand glitching when the stamp object was disabled while being held.
  • Dot Frilly Thrills song
    Fixed missing background music in Far-of-a-Land during the final mission.
  • Bentley Material
    Fixed some z-order issues with Bentley.
  • Food Fight Timer
    Fixed timer appearing on top of Dot's head right when the game starts.
  • Hand Prompt position
    Fixed wrong Hand Prompt position for cartridges in the office.
  • Paper Ball Throw
    Fixed paper balls being thrown with the right trigger even after being released.
  • Far-of-a-Land Signpost
    House sign still had "..." on top, even after interacting with it.
  • Second Boss dragons
    Fixed dragons straying too far from the player.
  • House sign
    Fixed the house sign speech box color in Far-of-a-Land.
  • Chicken grab
    Fixed an issue with grabbing the chicken when already too close to it in Far-of-a-Land.
  • Noah Dialogue
    Fixed Noah not talking anymore after the initial interaction.
  • Telephone Audio End
    Removed long delays before the end of most phone calls.
  • Repeating Distractions
    Fixed repeating distractions in the office during the second and third missions.
  • Duplicated Chicken
    Fixed an issue that caused two chickens to be briefly visible in Far-of-a-Land.

Polishing

  • Far-of-a-Land NPCs Dialogues
    Tweaked NPCs dialogues in Far-of-a-Land to update along with the town and not before it.
  • Office NPC Mixing Changes
    Lowered the volume of the voice-over and footsteps of NPCs in the office, and tweaked spatialization to a few phone calls.
  • Boss Music Volume
    Fixed balance between boss’ music volumes.
  • Update Credits
    Credits updated with testers' names.
  • Out-of-Bounds Check
    Polished out-of-bounds check in the 3D world to be more consistent.
  • Object Throw SFX
    Added missing SFX when throwing some objects in the office.
  • Bug Hunt SFX
    Added SFX to real-world bugs during the Bug Hunts.
  • Intro 96 haptics
    Removed jump haptic feedback from the 2D game in the first scene.
  • Paper drawings
    Display a random selection of drawings in the notepad when grabbing a paper ball.
  • Head Collision
    Added colliders to objects that didn't have them and polished darkening vision when putting your head inside objects or straying too far from the center.
  • Yar Wings Feedback Sound
    Yar's wings had no audio feedback after being grabbed.
  • Delivering Objects
    Fixed issues that could cause difficulty when delivering some objects to office characters when asked.
