The Last Big Update Before 1.0

major update

Stickplosion · published

Couch play is here

Up to four players on one machine, each on their own controller, all in the same arena. Plug in a pad, press a button to take a seat, and go. Player one can stay on keyboard and mouse while everyone else uses controllers — mixed input works.

No split screen: this is a 2D brawler, so everyone shares one camera that frames the whole fight, the way it should be.

Controllers, properly

  • Right stick aims, left stick moves
  • Left trigger jumps — and it is pressure sensitive. Feather it for a hop, pull it for a full jump
  • Right trigger fires, right bumper places terrain
  • Full pad navigation through every menu
  • Settings > Controls now shows a column per device, so you can see at a glance which controller drives which player

Built for handhelds

On a small screen the interface no longer expects you to squint — text scales up automatically on Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go, MSI Claw and friends. There is a slider in Settings if you want it bigger or smaller.

Rounds end when they end

When a round is over, it is over. Bullets in flight, poison clouds and explosions no longer resolve while the card screen is up, so you can't lose a round you already won. Walking off the side of the map now kills you, as it always should have.

Fixes

  • Card duplication exploit closed. Spam-clicking a card banked it once per click
  • Invisible players closed. No more picking a character colour that matches the background
  • Team Deathmatch now requires actual teams instead of quietly behaving like a free-for-all
  • Your saved control bindings no longer get wiped when the game updates
  • Scoreboard, achievements and a long tail of interface text all cleaned up

This is the last major update before the full release. If you hit something broken, there is a bug reporter in the pause menu — it goes straight to the tracker with your logs attached, and it is by far the fastest way to get a fix.
