Sombie Update Notes July 10th

major update

Sombie Playtest · published

Banking & Auction House

  • Bank vaults are here! stash your gear in a shared, tabbed vault at the banker, accessible from any character on your account.

  • Player auction house. List items for a fixed price or run an escrowed bid at the auctioneer's stand. Buy, sell, and flip with other survivors.

Base Building Overhaul

  • Bases now progress through tiers. Camp, Outpost, Homestead, unlocking new workbenches as you grow.

  • Recruit hireable survivor NPCs to join your base.

  • Build mode got a full rework: new build bar, smarter grid, and a one-press Fill Room that handles any room shape.

  • Roofs and floors look and feel way better, chat won't pop open mid-build anymore, and full gamepad support for building and camp management.

Combat Overhaul

  • Melee and gunfights hit way harder now: hitstop, hit markers, shell casings, blood spray that actually sticks and pools in the grass.

  • Zombies flinch and get knocked back when hit. Vehicles now physically shove zombies and objects out of the way.

  • Gunfire and flares now draw zombies in from a distance.

  • PvP and PvE damage are separately tuned for better balance.

  • Fixed a bug where non-weapon items triggered an attack swing, and spam-clicking loot piles could grab the same item repeatedly.

Death Overhaul

  • Dying now leaves a gravestone at the spot, with a waypoint back to it and a proper cause-of-death screen, including a "Forgive Killer" option.

  • Floating damage numbers on every hit, across players, zombies, animals, and more.

  • Crime reporting: witness a killing and report it, or forgive the killer.

  • Lag compensation is now working correctly for the native client, making hits register more fairly online.

Audio

  • Big sound pass across footsteps, impacts, weapons, and animals should feel a lot more alive out there.

  • Fixed several weapons that were firing silently.

World

  • Rebuilt the police station interior.

  • Grass now folds under dropped items, guards show up on the map, and animals no longer wander into water.

Quests

  • All quest dialogue rewritten. Every NPC now has their own voice.

  • Quest rewards get more interesting with bound items and item rarity.
