Patch Before The Storm

Escape From Ruin — What Changed

March 18 — August 3

This was a rebuild, not a patch. Almost every part of the game is different now.

  • There's a world map. You travel it, discover places, and biomes have their own music.
  • Lairs are real dungeons. Rooms connect, have their own difficulty, backgrounds and music. 15 new ones.
  • Quests actually work. New chains, a proper quest log, and 29 new Castle events.
  • Combat feels good now. Speed control, hit pauses, a skip button, clear enemy intents, and card previews before you commit.
  • You can talk or sneak instead of just fighting.
  • Around 150 new encounters and a pile of new enemy attacks.
  • New effects — Stun, Blind, Dodge and more.
  • Every card's text was rewritten to be readable.
  • There's a tutorial and a story mode.
  • The UI was rebuilt and finally scales at any resolution.
  • Shops, relics, merits and rewards all got passes.
  • A lot of bugs are gone — the mid-combat freeze, getting stuck in rooms, block not decaying, saves wiping each other.
