Hotfix v0.2.2 - Market Changes and Fixes

Next Reign: Kingdom · published

Greetings, fellow rulers! 👑

Yesterday our expanded demo received its first major creator coverage - huge thanks to Dex for spending roughly 90 minutes with the game and sharing his thoughts with his community!

Watching the video and reading through all the comments gave us a lot of valuable feedback. Based on that feedback, we've prepared another update for the demo.

Fixes & Improvements

  • Fixed tooltip sections being displayed outside of the screen

  • Fixed audio overlap issues causing uncomfortable sound stacking

  • Fixed trees not fading correctly when certain buildings were placed

  • Fixed defeated units occasionally displaying incorrect animations

  • Fixed some upgrade recommendations not appearing correctly at the start of a reign

  • Renamed "Tool Smithy" to "Tool Smithery"

  • Improved positioning of environmental objects to reduce visual obstruction

  • Adjusted worker mouse priority when shoving so resource areas are easier to interact with

Market Rework

One topic that came up repeatedly was the market.

Originally, the market was designed as a way to bridge temporary resource shortages without heavily penalizing the player. While this created a more forgiving experience, it also reduced some of the strategic decision-making we wanted to encourage and made certain exploits possible.

Because of this, we've reworked the underlying market logic:

  • Market trades now have a weaker impact on prices but use a fee

  • Large-scale trading and moving resources around is less efficient

  • Market usage is encouraged as a supplement rather than a replacement for production

We'll continue reading all feedback and further refine the system as necessary.
