The Karters 2: Turbo Charged · published · build 25133282
Hey everyone!
We’re back with a major update bringing performance improvements across the game, expanded graphics settings, a redesigned customization flow, improved lobby and online features, weapon balance changes, and a wide range of fixes.
Significantly improved performance across both vanilla and modded tracks.
All race tracks are now hitting 60 FPS on Steam Deck, with further improvements still planned for some tracks.
Added new graphics settings:
Anti-Aliasing
Bloom
Anisotropic Textures
Shadow Detail
Detail Density
Game Terrain
Opponent Visual Effects
Added graphics presets:
Performance
Balanced
Quality
Anisotropic texture filtering is now always enabled, keeping surfaces clearer when viewed at an angle.
Made minor performance optimizations to the in-game UI.
Added missing button graphics for Xbox controllers and Steam Controller, and refreshed button graphics for other supported platforms.
UI button graphics now reflect the player's actual bindings instead of relying on static icons. If you rebind an action such as Respawn, the UI will now display the correct button.

A timer is shown if the race is about to start while someone is still editing a preset.
Added Streamer Mode. For now, it focuses on hiding the lobby code by default. Let us know how useful additional privacy options such as hiding player names or profile pictures would be.
Improved lobby performance and player preview smoothness. Preview animations can now run more smoothly when performance allows while still automatically scaling down when needed.
Improved ranked ELO stability and fairness. Players should no longer lose rank when an opponent quits mid-race or when a match never properly starts.
Lobby settings can no longer be changed during the countdown.
Empty player slots now display clearer status information depending on whether the lobby is offline, AI is enabled, or the slot is available for another player.
Fixed an online lobby desync that could load a player into the wrong track.
Improved download progress reporting so it no longer reaches 100% before downloading and processing are actually complete.
Fixed co-op players being able to enter the lobby before all required mods had finished loading.
Fixed several lobby softlocks and cases where a race would fail to start after the countdown.
Fixed the race countdown sometimes starting immediately when the host selected a track.
Fixed spectator join countdowns sometimes starting from an incorrectly high value.
Fixed AI presets being randomized after returning from a race to the lobby.
Elimination modes now automatically determine the lap count based on the number of players and no longer allow it to be changed manually.

Reduced the Tesla Gun's overall area coverage and adjusted its damage distribution.
AOE Radius: 150 → 100
Direct Hit Damage: 60 → 55
Tick Damage: 30 → 25
Added new safeguards to prevent Portal Guns from appearing in rapid chains while keeping them available throughout the race.
A maximum of 2 Portal Guns can now be in circulation at the same time.
This includes Portal Guns currently held by players as well as Portal Guns that are actively being cast.
Added a shared 7-second drop cooldown.
The cooldown begins when a Portal Gun is picked up and refreshes when one is fired.
The same circulation limit and cooldown rules apply to both online and offline races.
Two Portal Guns can still occasionally be used close together, but the shared cooldown prevents another one from immediately dropping afterward.
Reduced Heal Aura's active time by 1 second. The full 50 HP restoration now happens faster, while its anti-death window remains around 30% shorter than Shield.
Active Time: 4.95s → 3.95s
Limited Tank to a maximum of 2 in circulation during online races.
This includes Tanks currently held by players as well as Tanks that have already been triggered or are actively running. Once one Tank leaves circulation, another can drop again, keeping Tank available as a comeback item without allowing too many to stack at once.
Online Tank Limit: Unlimited → 2
Tank can no longer drop from item boxes during the first 20 seconds of a race.

Item boxes can now be collected while the Minigun is active. The collected item becomes available after the Minigun is discarded.

Fixed direct Poison Gun hits sometimes not applying the poison effect.
Fixed targeting indicators sometimes displaying incorrect information due to stale target data.
Fixed Portal Gun targeting the first-place player after they had already finished the race. It now retargets to the leading player who is still racing.
Fixed Shield SFX playing for too long.
Fixed Tank freeze immunity.
Fixed Twilight Grove failing to load.
Fixed a misspelling in the Twilight Grove map name.
Fixed shortcut hardlocks after respawning on Woodsy Lane, Gauntlet Run, and Rush Hour.
Fixed an issue preventing teleportation through a road blocker on Molten Mile.

Fixed audio settings being ignored during boot, which could cause music to briefly play at full volume. Music now uses the last known volume during startup, or remains muted until profile settings load if no previous value is available.
Fixed unwanted camera movement in Photo Mode.
