Cat Spirit RPG — Playtest Patch Notes
This update focuses heavily on improving multiplayer stability, session joining, character persistence, stealth, and ability effects.
Multiplayer & Session Improvements
- Fixed an issue where players could become stuck on the loading screen when joining a hosted game.
- Fixed an issue that could cause players to be kicked while joining a multiplayer session.
- Fixed an issue preventing characters with certain equipped items, Spirit Shards, backpacks, or components from joining multiplayer games.
- Fixed an issue where leaving a multiplayer session and attempting to rejoin without restarting the game could result in being kicked.
- Improved cleanup when leaving or disconnecting from multiplayer sessions.
- Improved character and world-state synchronization when reconnecting to a host.
- Added safeguards to prevent information from previous sessions from interfering with a new connection.
Stealth Improvements
- Other players' overhead information is now hidden while they are in stealth, preventing the HUD from revealing their location.
- Stealthed players can now still be hit if another player correctly predicts their location.
- Taking damage while stealthed now breaks stealth as intended.
- Target Lock will still not automatically acquire a stealthed player.
Multiplayer Ability Effects
- Improved replication of Domain Ability visual effects between the host and connected players.
- Ability effects should now display more consistently for everyone in the session.
- Improved safeguards against ability effects appearing multiple times.
General Stability
- Improved multiplayer character validation when joining a session.
- Improved handling of interrupted connections and unexpected disconnects.
- Improved multiplayer save and persistence handling when leaving and rejoining sessions.
- Added additional multiplayer safeguards and diagnostics to help identify connection problems.
Known Issues Being Investigated
- Ability cooldown indicators may not display correctly for joined players.
- Certain combinations of Stealth and Phantom Escape may occasionally leave the character mesh invisible.
- Additional graphics-related crashes reported on some hardware are under investigation.
Playtesters: Please continue reporting anything unusual when joining, leaving, rejoining, using abilities, or interacting with stealth effects. Multiplayer edge cases are particularly useful for us during this stage of testing.
