Characters created in 0.3.5 will function and be fully playable in 0.3.6 and onwards. However you might see the following issues:
The items you have unlocked in all tech trees have moved their location and order, but will remain unlocked and usable.
Some quests that were previously completed will appear again and might not fully function as expected. They can be untracked in the quest menu.
Some frescos that were previously used will appear as not completed in the table map. Their tech will still be unlocked for you. Using these frescos will award you with Arcadium Essence.
The wind spirit will be unlocked by default if your character has already left the starting area in any capacity. You can summon it using the interaction menu (Holding [E] on the keyboard or [X] in the controller)
Worlds created in 0.3.5 and earlier will function and will be playable in 0.3.6 and onwards but will not be supported or updated any further due to the significant change to the world. If you play in such a world, you might encounter the following issues:
The fog of war will not match your progress in the previous version. But Islands you have already discovered will still be marked correctly in the table map.
New Fresco, Life Sapling and Life Tree islands may appear in clusters you have already visited.
There may not be sufficient sources of Arcadium Essence in the world to allow you to increase your insight. To complete the Tech Tree we recommend starting a new world with your existing character.
You might encounter deprecated content and see visual issues in islands you have already visited.
Several instances of high performance issues may still be seen:
Stuttering can occur when loading and unloading island clusters.
Stuttering can occur when exploring very large islands.
Frame rate loss can occur when on corrupted islands.
Playing in a dedicated server can still have lower frame rate than playing in Peer to Peer multiplayer or single player.
Aloft is not fully supported on Steam Deck and playing on it might result in severe performance and stability issues.
Aloft does not support any mods and having any installed can cause issues launching the game and major stability issues.
The “winds of change” quest can advance when healing an unhealthy island in the same cluster as an unhealthy life sapling island.
Rarely, Emberstone contraptions might become desynced in multiplayer.
Changing the survival setting in the main menu will not be reflected in-game. The setting must be changed while in active gameplay for it to take place.
Rarely, attacks from cowards will not hit the player.
The table map does not update the status of islands other players land on until it is reopened.
Rarely, some quests might become crossed out before completing their intended objectives.
Sometimes attempting to host a multiplayer session from the main menu, then canceling, can cause the next attempt to host result in an infinite loading screen. Using the back key/button and returning to main menu or restarting the game can fix this.
Some islands will have distant silhouettes that don’t match their actual appearance.
Very rarely, using the Unstuck option or respawning in certain islands will trap the player. In this case, teleport to a home island or use the cheat `noclip on 1` to move to a safe location and then use `noclip off`
Life Tree islands might not have the right appearance for all players in multiplayer when healing it.
Rarely, skipping the Life Wind minigame on a Life Tree might not remove the chains on it.
Asteroid fields appear as regular islands on the table map.
Some island’s sub-biomes are not correctly marked in the spy glass and will instead say “???”.
Some large asteroids have no collision.
Steam Workshop islands will not appear in the custom island list until the player reboots the game.
Spawning a home island in a dedicated server will not show the intended VFX.
Some assets might flicker slightly when looked at up-close.
Some unintended reflections of beacons and other lights might appear when SSGI is enabled.
Some large parts of islands will not load when far away.
Some UI will not appear as intended if playing in non-standard aspect ratios.
Game music may stop abruptly sometimes.
Sometimes music for certain cutscenes will trigger later than expected.
Sometimes sounds from the game can appear in the main menu when closing a game session.
Not all items have the correct name and localization in the Island Creator.
Some text in non-English languages might appear in English.
Deletion of character and world save files is not supported by Steam Cloud, so those files must be deleted from all devices manually to be synced.
