0.7.4 | Hotfix

Wizdom Academy Demo · published · build 24654611

Greetings, Headmasters! 🧙‍♂️

Hotfix 0.7.4 is now available for Wizdom Academy!

This update focuses on improving save reliability, damaged room behavior, construction guidance, world map exploration, Directorium systems, room placement, professor management, and several UI issues reported by the community.

We also added new quality-of-life tools, including instant demolition with Shift, clearer floor and placement tooltips, better guidance during tutorial quests, more visible village expedition information, and stronger feedback around unpaid teacher wages.

Let’s dive in!

  • In demolish mode, holding Shift while clicking a building now tears it down instantly, skipping the refund confirmation window.

  • Broken rooms now refuse to be demolished, while indestructible buildings are still simply selected.

  • Hovering a tower floor button now shows a tooltip reminding you which keys move the view up and down a floor.

  • Building tooltips now warn you in red when a building cannot be placed on the floor you are currently viewing.

  • This helps clarify buildings that are ground-floor only or upper-floor only.

  • During the close three rooms at once quest, a guiding arrow now points to the open and close button on the room you select.

  • The visual is still a bit off and will be improved in the next update.

  • Holding stairs, or the new Magical Lift, under a corridor on the floor above now hides that corridor tile so you can clearly see where they will come out.

  • When a village on the world map falls below 40% influence with no explorer present or on the way, a professor may now offer a tracked quest to win it back.

  • This quest can ask you to station an explorer, run a propaganda campaign, or build a defense tower.

  • Promising a professor you will pay every salary on time now appears as a tracked quest.

  • This tracked promise includes a free grace cycle right after the promise and a counter that climbs as you keep paying your staff.

  • In the graduation panel, bringing a student back as a teacher now shows their per-cycle wage in white with a minus sign, making it clearer that this is an ongoing cost.

  • The Directorium Emissary now visits noticeably less often, roughly every 20 to 30 cycles instead of every 10.

  • The first tutorial visit from the Emissary is unchanged.

  • The compact trait strip in the professor management panel can now be scrolled to see every trait.

  • The expel and locate buttons now stay in place in both the normal view and the Show Traits view.

  • Your academy crest icon on the world map top bar now matches the size of the village and explorer icons next to it.

  • Non-buildable terrain now follows each map’s hand-placed boundary zones instead of relying on a live terrain guess.

  • This should make what you see in build mode better match the intended buildable area.

  • These areas are still being polished, so feedback on Discord is welcome.

  • Each village panel on the world map now shows its assigned explorer with portrait, name, and travel status.

  • This should make managing multiple expeditions at once much clearer.

  • The elementary defense tower in a village now boosts your influence there instead of paying Gold while a representative is stationed on site.

  • Discovering a rival academy now reads like discovering a rival academy, with sealed gates and warding spells, instead of an unexplored location.

  • Villages now allow only one construction at a time.

  • Starting a second village construction is now refused with a notice and error sound instead of silently doing nothing.

  • When a professor is about to leave, the window now explains the real reason: exhaustion, collapsed morale, or feeling useless.

  • A rank II mana drought’s extra mana drain is now shown as a red penalty next to your production per cycle instead of silently draining your reserve.

  • Building or keeping a working Etherfang Decoy avoids this drain entirely.

  • The Directorium tax now depends less on your academy’s progress and size, and more on what you actually hold.

  • The demand can never rise from this change, only fall.

  • When you cannot cover the Emissary’s demand, the confirmation window now explains exactly why.

  • This includes your assessed wealth, the amount asked, what your offer covers, and which other resources can close the gap.

  • Buildings now count toward the wealth assessed by the Directorium, so closing your school before a visit no longer lowers your bill.

  • The Emissary demand calculation has been improved.

  • Paying the Emissary in full, or paying more than asked, is now worth twice as much Trust as before.

  • Paying short or paying nothing now costs twice as much Trust as before.

  • The base share of your wealth requested by the tax has been lowered by roughly three fifths.

  • The tax cap now only steps in during genuinely harsh situations, making your actual wealth matter again the rest of the time.

  • The Directorium payment window now clearly separates your academy’s ongoing Trust drift, such as idle staff, from the result of the payment itself.

  • The window now shows both figures at once.

  • The Call a Caretaker toggle on a room panel is now hidden until a Caretaker is actually available in your academy.

  • The Academy Satisfaction and Directorium’s Trust panels now display their own icon next to the title and inside the text.

  • These panels now show the next milestone you have not reached yet and the bonus it would unlock.

  • The Headmaster’s Board now opens with your academy crest, academy name, and chosen colors at the top.

  • Hovering the graduates and wealth figures on the Headmaster’s Board now explains what each number counts and what the figure in brackets means.

  • Both stats are now called by a single name everywhere.

  • What some screens called Global Satisfaction is now consistently called Academy Satisfaction.

  • Each stat now has one short description instead of two different paragraphs shown side by side.

  • On the Headmaster’s Board, changes since the last inspection are now colored green when the figure went up and red when it went down.

  • When the Emissary is not at the academy, the Headmaster’s Board now shows Elara instead of the Emissary’s portrait.

  • The button at the bottom of the Headmaster’s Board now clearly says what it will do: pay the tax or close the ledger.

  • Four broken lines in the Satisfaction panel have been rewritten correctly.

  • Elara’s notification sound now plays exactly when her message bubble appears, instead of slightly before it.

  • Claiming a quest reward no longer leaves a dead pause before the game continues.

  • The golden graduation sparkle still has known issues and may remain active in some cases. This will be fixed in the next patch.

  • The Directorium payment window now also shows what your academy’s idle staff costs you in Trust per cycle, next to the payment result.

  • A full payment should no longer look like it upset the Emissary.

  • The Emissary’s departure messages now include all of their variants. Previously, one out of four could never appear.

  • The teacher assignment list now always opens scrolled to the top.

  • The Magical Lift is now available in the regular game.

  • The Directorium Emissary notification now shows the Emissary’s own portrait instead of a random student face.

  • Saves are now read back and verified before being accepted.

  • If a save check fails, the incomplete save is deleted, the previous save is kept, and the game tells you it did not go through.

  • This applies to both autosaves and manual saves.

  • A departed student, professor, or gate candidate no longer breaks saving.

  • Any leftover reference now blocks the save with a warning instead of writing an incomplete save.

  • A single damaged character record no longer stops the rest of your staff or students from loading.

  • A professor salvaging a ruin now shows a proper Salvaging status in the management panel instead of an empty row.

  • The room upgrade tooltip title is now translatable instead of hard-coded in English.

  • Guiding arrows for build quests are now fully reliable.

  • The construction menu button itself is now highlighted correctly.

  • Category tab arrows now reliably reappear and disappear at the right time.

  • Several other tutorial arrows now point exactly where they should, including Headmaster selection, recruiting four students, assigning a professor, sleeping quarters, the exam ready notification, and the Select Destiny button.

  • Resolving an isolated room by moving it now completes the matching tutorial quest and clears its alert, just like building a door already did.

  • You can no longer send a second explorer to a world map destination that already has one on the way or on site.

  • Selecting a character with a visual effect playing on them now draws the selection outline around the character, not around the effect.

  • Dragging a damaged room’s selection window now moves the whole window, not only the repair overlay.

  • The demolish button on a damaged room’s selection window is now clearly disabled instead of doing nothing when clicked.

  • A timed promise quest that has already failed can no longer pay out its reward afterward.

  • A builder stuck idle at his workshop now notices and picks his job back up on his own.

  • On the starting location screen, mouse wheel zoom is disabled so your selection always stays centered.

  • Your academy crest no longer leaks into the starting location screen.

  • The village building list on the world map now scrolls with the mouse wheel.

  • The countdown ring on the Directorium Emissary’s question mark bubble now always starts full and drains toward the real deadline.

  • Learning Tree upgrades no longer glow as buyable before their node’s main technology is unlocked.

  • A student’s classroom aspiration quest now points its guiding arrow at the exact room needed.

  • The A Calling With Nowhere to Go quest now names both the student and the exact classroom everywhere, instead of using generic placeholders.

  • Students and professors can no longer be created with two conflicting money traits or two opposite personality traits at the same time.

  • You can now build stairs directly under an existing corridor, and a corridor directly above existing stairs.

  • Only real obstacles still block placement.

  • Placing stairs or the Magical Lift now clears the corridor on every floor they cross, not only the floor where they were placed.

  • An explorer’s position, path, and remaining travel time are now restored correctly on load, for both outbound and return trips.

  • The blue arrow to your next exploration target no longer points at an already claimed village.

  • The exploration target arrow now switches off properly once your squad is sent.

  • Students with nothing your academy can currently teach no longer appear at the recruitment gate.

  • A freshly hired professor no longer silently walks out and vanishes shortly after being assigned to work.

  • The selection outline no longer draws a large flat square under characters affected by low energy, low motivation, or critical mood effects.

  • The expel and locate buttons in the professor management panel no longer disappear in the Show Traits view.

  • A leftover placeholder trait entry no longer appears.

  • The academy, village, and explorer icons on the world map top bar are clickable again.

  • The build a village installation onboarding quest now completes with any installation you build and correctly shows its reward window.

  • Selecting a Golemancy classroom or the Etherfang Decoy now draws a proper selection outline like every other room.

  • The rank priority dropdown on a classroom no longer stays open after switching to another building.

  • Select Destiny now reliably reappears when graduates are waiting.

  • A new Too bad! button lets you clear a failed or empty exam report to free the room.

  • A professor created directly by graduation now shows their diploma traits immediately.

  • Professors created this way now keep the teaching bonus from every subject they graduated, not only their final year.

  • Ruins no longer block construction on clear neighboring cells, only the cells they actually occupy.

  • Non-buildable terrain now respects the height of each boundary zone floor by floor, instead of blocking every floor at that spot.

  • Mana reserve rows in the management panel no longer show a leftover professor portrait.

  • Picking up a building to move it now opens the same view as build mode, hiding the roof so you can see where you are dropping it.

  • Demolishing a corridor next to a door no longer triggers a hidden error while the walls close back up.

  • Professors sent on exploration and an idle Headmaster are now counted consistently as idle or not everywhere.

  • The Directorium Trust penalty, the Board report, and the top bar now agree.

  • The last line and icon of a social event bubble can now actually appear.

  • Clicking a village’s guiding arrow to dismiss it now reliably turns it off on the first click.

  • A recruited student’s full list of subjects they want to learn no longer goes missing from the management panel.

  • The reactivate button on a room no longer flickers on and snaps back off.

  • A refused reopen now records why, making troubleshooting easier.

  • Room panels and professor assignment no longer break when a room still references a professor who left in an unusual way.

  • Stale professor references are now cleaned up automatically.

  • A construction site destroyed while queued no longer leaves its builder stuck idle at the workshop.

  • Placing the Mana Wellspring during the tutorial no longer triggers a hidden error.

  • The onboarding foundation quests, Foundations of the Academy and its follow-up, now have distinct titles instead of sharing the same one.

  • Selection outlines now follow characters riding the Tower or climbing stairs without tipping over or spinning during the trip.

  • Several recently added messages, including save recovery and floor build restriction messages, now show proper accented characters and consistent tone in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, and Turkish.

Hotfix 0.7.4 should make Wizdom Academy more stable and clearer across several important systems, especially saving, damaged rooms, construction guidance, exploration, professor management, and Directorium payments.
