Boomsday Demo · published · build 24346671
Boomsday v0.4 I am proud to announce that Boomsday now runs on Mac , Linux , Windows , Android and , iOS! Testing is underway on all platforms. Beta keys have been issued to community members of the Boomsday squad! Some changes along with some additions below. New:
Gamma slider. Added a gamma setting under Settings > Graphics, below Render Scale. Range is 50% to 300%. It adjusts the brightness of the game world only, so menus and HUD stay untouched. It can be changed at any time, including mid-run from the pause menu, and applies instantly.
Join friends directly through Steam. The Create Steam Squad button in the lobby is now two buttons: Steam Host and Join Friends. Join Friends opens a list of your Steam friends currently playing Boomsday. If a friend is in a squad, you can join them right from the list with one click. No invite needed anymore, though invites still work like before.
Your Character Choice Matters Now. The five Wardens are no longer just different faces on the same meat. Each one now brings their own edge:
- Oozi reloads 15% faster.
- Oodi has no dash cooldown.
- Ooli moves at full speed while shooting.
- Oopi carries a fourth weapon slot.
- Oobi pulls in pickups from further away.
Enemies lurking behind walls in the dungeon no longer get to lurk in private. An accessibility option added to the game settings will indicate when enemies are behind objects that obscure them. Anything hiding behind solid cover now shows up as a dark hatched silhouette.
Solo players can now review every perk selected during a run from the pause menu, organized by the level it was chosen. Browse longer runs with mouse or touch, or hide the panel in Game Settings.
A new accessibility option lets you apply outlines to enemies, making large crowds easier to track. Enemy outlines use your selected outline style and thickness and are turned off by default. (This may have impact on performance for lesser performing devices)
New Weapon: Swarm - Unleash a stream of fiery micro-missiles that curve unpredictably through the air before crashing down on your target. Holds 10 missiles and empties its magazine in roughly four seconds. Mouse aim sends every missile directly to the targeted location. Controller and touch aim receive light assistance toward nearby enemies in front of the player.
Changed:
Difficulty sliders now go up to 400%. Enemy count, weapon drops, XP drops, and power-up drops can all be raised to 400%, up from the previous 200% cap. The lower limit stays at 25%.
Reviving is now standard. The Reviving option has been removed from Match Setup and is always on in co-op. It was on by default and conflicted with the Hardcore modifier, which disables reviving. Hardcore works exactly as before: no revives, friendly fire on.
The Character settings tab has a new PLAYER 1 / PLAYER 2 selector at the top. Player 2 gets their own name, their own character, and their own colors, all saved just like Player 1's.
The settings window is about 15% taller. Less scrolling, more settings.
Opening the Steam Overlay now pauses the game.
Unplugging your controller mid-run now pauses the game instead of letting you get eaten.
Fixed:
Fixed the Android app icon showing a grey background. The icon now displays correctly on the intended dark background.
Fixed a bug where Player 2 could be killed but never respawn in Local Co-OP DM. Dying is now a setback, not a retirement: after a 3 second countdown, press fire to jump back in.
In Local CO-OP DM when both players are down, each gets their own respawn prompt showing who fragged them.
In Local CO-OP respawns now place you a short distance from your opponent: far enough that you aren't reborn into their muzzle, close enough that the shared camera keeps both of you on screen.
Fixed broken characters appearing in perk descriptions and other text. Some strings contained symbols the game's fonts don't support, which could show up as garbled glyphs or empty boxes, most visibly on perk cards. All text in all 11 languages has been cleaned up.
Fixed a bug where the host of an online match could show up wearing Player 2's couch co-op colors instead of their own.
Dying enemies could fling their dropped weapon through a wall. Dropped guns now respect architecture and stay on your side of the bricks.
Plugging in a controller while the game is opened establishes a connection to the controller instead of requiring the game to be restarted.
