Update 1.1.2: Govern your countries, big nations fight back

Ghost Algorithm · published · build 26197522

Thanks for your feedback. This update adds a governance layer for the countries you capture, a more realistic balance against large nations and changes that make your choice of starting country matter.

New Features

  • Country governance: attack actions can no longer be used on countries you own (including your home base). Instead, you get three governance actions. Suppress quickly lowers unrest and revolt risk, but turns the people against you. Propaganda slowly raises loyalty and slightly lowers unrest and revolt risk. Exploit gives crypto and data right away, but lowers loyalty and raises revolt risk.
  • Loyalty and Revolt risk: every country you capture now has a Loyalty bar and a Revolt risk bar. Unrest, grid damage and low loyalty feed revolt risk. If it fills up, the people rise up and you lose control of that country. A revolt at your home base doesn't cost you the country, but it damages your core and raises detection.
  • Map color tooltip: hover over a country on the map for a moment to see why it has that color (alert, war, unrest, ownership and so on).
  • Starting country bonuses now apply: the advantages and disadvantages shown when choosing your origin (income multipliers, starting infrastructure, detection by target, starting alerts) now really take effect in game. The selection screen shows each country's effects and difficulty from the same rules.

Balance

  • Large nations fight back: the bigger a country (power tier and economy), the higher its capture threshold, up to 90% instead of 75% for superpowers. Attacks on large nations raise more detection and world tension, and make retaliation and alliance suspicion more likely. Wars wear large nations down less, and dilemmas involving them cost more.
  • Tech tree costs are now set per node; Tier 3 technologies cost about 25% more.
  • T2 and T3 action costs are now set individually based on each action's strength.
  • Model training (emergency protocol) costs scale with your resource income: cheap early on, a real cost later in the game.

Bug Fixes

  • Some starting countries' disadvantage that put NATO countries on alert wore off quickly. It now lasts the whole game.
  • Texts that were still in Turkish in English and other languages (model training, save screen, achievements, demo panel) are now translated into all 12 languages.
  • Clicking a news item or notification didn't center the country on screen. Fixed.
  • A country stayed red on the map after its unrest dropped. It now returns to its normal color once unrest falls below the threshold.

Improvements

  • Capture path bars now use the same colors as the capture markers on the map.
  • Two testers were added to the credits screen. Thank you!
