Permanent-stat talent rebalance, new Rule Codex, three Legendary items, four Cantonese theme songs, Steam Achievements live……
This update focuses on how permanent stat bonuses were hurting deck-building and replayability. To avoid every clear running the same single optimal build, I've made these harder to obtain without removing the mechanics themselves, and added three powerful Legendary items to make up for it.
A new Rule Codex has been added to the Settings panel — you can now look up the rules for Base Stats / Talent Triggers / Statuses / Attack Types / Persuasion / Achievements anytime during a run.
Browse entries on the left, view details on the right; content scrolls freely.
The Codex is still a rough first version — I'll polish the text, expand it, and add rule explanations for the map events later.
True·Cunning Tyrant (Cao Cao): At the end of each turn, summon a random Wei unit of matching quality (max Epic this battle).
True·Tyrannical Levy (Dong Zhuo): At the end of each turn, all enemies lose 1 max HP and this unit gains the same amount (this battle).
Heavenly Master (Zhang Jiao): On deployment, summon a Qun infantry of matching quality in every empty allied slot (max Epic this battle).
Five Animals (Hua Tuo): On death, a random ally permanently gains +1 max HP this run.
Eyes Gouged Out (Xiahou Dun): At the end of each turn, permanently lose 1 max HP and gain 1 Attack this run.
Seven Advances (Zhao Yun): When attacked, if the enemy's Speed is higher than yours, permanently gain 1 Speed this run.
Young Phoenix (Pang Tong): On death, revives at the start of the next turn, carrying 3 turns of Seal, and permanently loses 1 max HP.
Enduring Battle (Vanguard): For every 3 basic-attack kills, permanently gain 1 Speed this run.
In short: permanent-stat talents have been toned down; Dong Zhuo's Signature Talent was buffed; Cao Cao's and Zhang Jiao's Signature Talents were optimized (to avoid clashing with battle-phase animations); and the Young Phoenix was nerfed to fix the endless fights caused by high-HP revive loops. True·Cunning Tyrant, True·Tyrannical Levy, and Eyes Gouged Out now support Zhenhu and can trigger from the hand.
Three Legendary items have been added to the Treasure Chest events:
Heavenly Sword (Yitian): Cao Cao's peerless blade. When used, the target unit permanently gains a bonus equal to its current Attack.
Red Hare (Chitu): Covers a thousand li a day. When used, the target unit permanently gains a bonus equal to its current Speed.
Tao Te Ching: The supreme Daoist classic. When used, the target unit permanently gains a bonus equal to its current max HP.
Four new Cantonese vocal versions of "No Faith in Karma" (Bu Xin Yin Guo) have been added — unlock and select them in Settings. (I'm not totally sure my Cantonese pronunciation is accurate, haha — hope you don't hold it against me.)
Steam Achievements are now supported: of the current 177 achievements, 82 (all but the Awakening ones) are now linked to Steam. (Turns out each Steam achievement has to be added by hand, with unlock/locked images configured one by one… no wonder other games only publish a subset. If you'd like the full set, I'll add the Awakening achievements later~)
The banner pole list on the left of the Banner panel now scrolls — you can browse all your poles even with many held.
After tiering up or removing a Cabinet appointment, the unit list stays where it was instead of jumping back to the top.
The announcement panel was redesigned: a chronological list of past updates on the left, content on the right, with a 「Latest」 tag on the newest version.
The main-menu version number now follows the latest announcement automatically.
Hovering a unit card in the Codex now correctly shows the status explanations tied to its Signature Talent.
Status names in card and talent descriptions now display in their own status color, instantly recognizable.
Right-click an allied unit on the battlefield to retreat it directly — faster. The ornament hover tooltip was updated to match.
Pang Tong's placeholder card during fake death is now named 「Young Phoenix (Chufeng)」, to distinguish it from the "Phoenix" talent and avoid confusion.
Fixed offspring units' supply reduction failing after battle or after loading a save.
Fixed offspring units not being drawable in Pass Trial events.
Fixed Wolf's Gaze / Eight Formations interception showing status names in English in the battlefield prompt (now correctly in Chinese).
Fixed stray quotation marks and garbled names in some unit card descriptions (e.g. Guan Yu, Lü Bu).
Fixed shield-gain floating text wrongly using the HP icon (now correctly shows the shield icon).
Fixed Liu Bei's "Benevolent Virtue" possibly copying the Immortal Mandate's exclusive talents on deployment.
Fixed Conquest Mode enemy units that were promoted from non-Epic to Epic no longer playing their dynamic performance video.
Fixed persuading an Epic-promoted unit in Conquest Mode not unlocking the corresponding achievement.
Fixed dead units lingering with a Zhenhu seal or talent-Seal (strikethrough) display when entering the Naihe Bridge revival pool.
Not much in this update — on one hand, reworking the talent numbers ate my brain power; on the other, my Suno membership expired today, so I've been writing a lot of songs (see my Bilibili post). Besides the four Cantonese tracks already live, I'll pick more to add in the next version — for instance, the Conquest Mode clear videos and music may differ depending on which of the five lords you lead as commander~
