Welcome back Agent!
Today’s update brings big changes and new challenges to the Extraterrestrial station. Thanks to the massive support during development of the game and beyond, I am very happy to bring to you all of the community content and the secret levels that house them. On top of that, there’s a new mode, Marathon Mode, for those who want to try and speedrun everything in one go after beating the game once. On top of everything else, there’s a plethora of long anticipated adjustments and bug fixes.
Secret Levels – Levels 4, 5, and 6 all have alternate exits (perhaps you saw the one in the Seal Factory?) that now lead to secret levels. These levels take place in between the level you came from and the next level and must be cleared in order to unlock them from the Level Select menu.
New Enemies and Captures – These new levels introduce new enemies, including alternate versions of the Soldiers that use gas guns, UFOs that spawn floating lips to lick you into submission, masks that will try and possess you to take over your body, and a special makeover booth that will recover your health! Once the associated stages are unlocked, the new enemies will have a chance of spawning during the Core boss fight.
Two new Game Over CGs – With new capture animations come new kinky fates for the Agent. They are associated with the content found in the secret levels and shouldn’t be that hard to discover.
Blob Shooter Traps, Sticky Latex, and Power Boots – In the new levels, you will find traps that shoot blobs of latex slime that sticks to the ground. Obviously, you should avoid standing in them and doubly avoid being captured while standing on them... but there is hope! The Power Boots upgrade now makes you immune to the sticky effects, at the cost of them expiring more quickly.
STEPS FIXED! – Movement code has been tweaked so there should be no more issues getting stuck on the stairs. Additionally, the jittering that you can trigger by standing just on the edge of a step should not happen anymore.
Step Sounds – You now have footstep sounds! There are two types, generic and metal (gas vents, damage floors, etc...)
Enemy Pathing tweaks – The enemies themselves now have the ability to climb up stairs and step over things like tubes or small environmental bumps. Their pathing in general has some adjustments made to them as well.
Environmental Adjustments – Elevators now make noise when in motion, latex door panels turn grey and smoke when broken (instead of just disappearing), some cosmetics have been adjusted to some levels, and a new secret has been added to level 4, making it possible to kill all the enemies without having to fall through a trap and be captured.
Bonus Adjustments – The Kill/Secrets/Capture bonuses are also in the secret levels. These add to the total bonuses you can get, but it does not increase the previous cap of said bonuses, so if you have all the K/S/C bonuses from the original set of levels, these will not give you and further bonuses (that you can read about in the “?” menu).
100% Completionist Bonus – However, if you do unlock the bonuses for ALL of the levels, you will get a funny little bonus as proof of your effort. This, once unlocked, can be toggled on and off from the settings menu.
More achievements! - On top of that, there's new achievements for each of the objectives, and one for clearing Marathon Mode (don't worry, I am not going to make you try and 100% speedrun it in under an hour like I did...)
MARATHON MODE – After beating the game once and unlocking the victory CG, a new button will popup on the main menu. This is Marathon Mode, and like the name implies, challenges you to beat the game from start to finish in one go. It tracks your time and total K/S/C which will display the results at the end of a run, along with a little ranking. There’s nothing to unlock here (aside from a Steam Achievement for simply beating it), so it’s for fun and bragging rights. You’re encouraged to post your results.
Thank you for your support throughout the development cycle of Corruption Crucible!!! Everything I’ve learned about the Godot engine is experience that will enhance my new game project, so stay tuned on social media (or follow for free on Subscribe Star) for what’s coming next!
