Caravan Survivors Playtest · published · build 24393135
Freight and economy rework
- Contracts no longer pay gold up front. Accepting a contract gives you Contract Goods to carry and sell at the destination.
- You can accept multiple contracts at once. Each one adds to the route's difficulty (star rating).
- At departure you choose one of three roads at your star level.
- Gold is now a physical item that takes up space in your cargo grid.
- The license system is removed. Contract tiers now unlock automatically as your Trader Level goes up.
- Changes to death mechanics: dying fails your active contracts and costs you a random item plus some gold. Added a "limp home" option to end a route early at the end of each day.
- The Item Shop and Cargo Shop are combined into one shop with tabs. It is grid-based, so you can see whether something fits before buying.
- Added the Gold Box chassis upgrade for extra coin storage.
Controller support
- Fixed a bug where the gamepad could not confirm menu selections.
- B = back, Y = inventory, Start = pause. Throttle is on the triggers and bumpers.
- On-screen prompts now change depending on whether you are using keyboard/mouse or a controller.
- Added a gamepad cursor and tooltips in the shop and inventory.
- Fixed a bug where town controls stopped responding after opening the shop or inventory.
Balance
- Reworked how difficulty works, increased by # of contracts stacked.
- Added Free Run where you travel without a contract and can select difficulty for testing.
- Limited how many danger modifiers can appear on low-difficulty contracts.
- Retuned enemy scaling per star.
Other changes
- New pixel-art mouse cursor that hides when you use a controller (can be turned off in Options).
- Lowered the default audio volume and added more volume options.
- Added a "Load All Contract Cargo" button.
- Level-up cards now show which item each upgrade came from.
- Various tooltip and text fixes.
Note
- Saves from before this update are not compatible and will reset.
