Client 1.0.4 — typing, and a window that shows up

A big one for the Steam client. Everything below is live now and downloads automatically the next time Steam starts the game. Your progress lives on the server, so nothing about your characters changes.

Fixed: text boxes that ignored the keyboard

The one most of you reported. A text box would look focused — cursor blinking, click registered — and simply not take keys, until you alt-tabbed away and back. Sometimes at launch, sometimes an hour in, always at the worst moment.

The window was focused while the page underneath it wasn't, so keystrokes had nowhere to go. The client now re-syncs that itself: when the window comes back to the front, when it's restored, and the moment you click into any text field. Alt-tabbing to fix your own chat box should be a thing of the past.

Fixed: the game opening behind Steam

Launching from Steam could leave the game window hidden behind the Steam client, alive only as a taskbar icon. Windows won't hand the foreground to a program that's just started, so the window came up behind whatever you launched it from. The client now claims the front properly on launch.

Changed: the Steam Overlay is off

Shift+Tab no longer opens the overlay inside Crystaria, and that's deliberate. The overlay hooks into the client in a way that kept breaking keyboard input, and this is a game you type in constantly — chat, trades, search, gold transfers. Between a working keyboard and an overlay, the keyboard wins.

  • For friends, chat or the browser, alt-tab to Steam itself.
  • Achievements still unlock and record normally — you just won't see the in-game toast. They're all on your Steam profile.

Quickest way to check you're on the new build: launch the game and press F11. If it goes fullscreen, you're on 1.0.4.

If a text box ever plays dead again, tell us in Discord — and if you can say what happened just before it (a friend message, an achievement popping, alt-tabbing out), that detail is what pins these down.

Thanks to everyone who reported these with exact steps. "It opens behind the Steam client, and clicking the taskbar fixes it" is the kind of sentence that gets a bug fixed as soon as possible.
