Playtest update – 3 October 2026 (evening)

NABERON Playtest · published · build 25698321

Thank you to everyone who tried the playtest over the past few days and told us what was not working! Most of your reports are already fixed in this update, and many of these bugs we would never have found without you. We read every piece of feedback, so please keep it coming.

Tutorial and narrator

  • The tutorial no longer gets stuck when you finish a step before the narrator finishes her sentence (research window, fleet split, tank move, market order).
  • If you defeat the pirates early or take their den before the lesson gets there, the tutorial no longer asks for something that has already happened, and it no longer freezes.
  • After an interrupted landing, the lesson leads you back to the invasion.
  • The professor's free research centre is no longer lost when there is no room for it (for example because auto-build already placed one): it waits until there is space, and you get a message about it.
  • After an event, an unfinished task comes back; the narrator's subtitle stays up until the end of the sentence, and a prompt that is already done no longer stays on screen.
  • On a scene change, the game no longer answers the tutorial's questions for you.
  • Tröger's lines no longer talk over the narrator, and loading a save no longer replays old notifications.

Help (F1)

  • The F1 help no longer opens as an empty grey screen.
  • While the help is open, nothing behind it can receive a command by accident. Closing it (Esc) no longer also leaves the surface or the battle, and it no longer unpauses the game on its own.

Interface

  • New research menu: a clear board instead of the ring. The main categories (Ships, Tanks, Buildings) at the bottom, the sub-categories and researchable items above them, paged with arrows; the selected entry is highlighted in green, and the 3D preview stays.
  • The research menu shows in red what you are short of (credits, minerals, science, research slots).
  • The planet info and economy panels got a solid background and a Close button.
  • The planet info panel now opens above the planet, so the tutorial subtitles no longer cover it.
  • Fleet names no longer print across the panels.

Known issues, being worked on

  • On planet surfaces the camera can zoom below the terrain in some places.
  • During colonization the planet still offers the Colonize command.
  • The narrator still mispronounces a few words.
