Tutorial reworked: Step by step into the control room

On Steam

Getting started in Dispatch Control is becoming clearer: we have reworked the tutorial so you can learn your way around the control room step by step, even without prior experience.

Three exercises with clear guidance

The three existing practice incidents take you through the full workflow. Each step explains what to do, where to click and what happens next. Numbered instructions help you keep track of your progress.

You will get clearer explanations of how to establish the incident location and situation, end the call and dispatch suitable vehicles. Radio messages, waiting times and the vehicles’ automatic response are also explained more clearly, helping you understand when to act and when your crews are already at work.

More guidance for your next shift

After the three incidents, four additional explained examples cover important decisions:

  • Handling several emergency calls while keeping vehicles in reserve.
  • Choosing suitable vehicles for the reported requirements.
  • Organizing a hospital destination and transport when patient simulation is enabled.
  • Resupplying vehicles and getting them ready for another incident.

The interface tour now covers 81 areas. Use “Choose area” to jump directly to the topic you want to look up. A dedicated section highlights “Close” in the incident file. The guide explains the difference between S4, a radio report, completed work and the final click that releases the vehicles.

Additional explanations show how “Next incident” fast-forwards waiting time and what the “Report a bug” form contains. Vehicle actions are highlighted directly. If radio assignments are paused, the guide explains how to resume the exercise.

Priority guidance now opens the incident file in the journal. The resupply example names the matching “Station resupply” button, and role assignment help uses the phone button’s “End” caption. The “Next incident” caption also stays fully visible at 125% text size.

Understand multiplayer role assignment

The multiplayer menu now includes “Learn role assignment”. This additional guide explains player roles, duty profiles, case ownership and handovers step by step. Examples for small teams show how to divide call taking, dispatch and radio work. It also explains the responsibilities of the host, incident command and observers.

You can read the guide without a Steam connection and jump directly to individual lessons. Looking things up does not change your roles or incident files.

Learn at your own pace

The guide gives its explanations more room and stays easy to read at 125% text size. During the interface tour, other areas are dimmed while the explained area and tutorial panel stay bright. The exercise pauses during the tour, and actions are protected against accidental clicks. Your previous view and selection are restored when you return. The clearly labeled ‘Tutorial’ button at the top right reopens a hidden guide. Your last interface section and current exercise are preserved.

All new explanations are available in German and English. Enjoy getting to know your control room!
