FIRST MONTH MAJOR UPDATE

On Steam

Dragon Fire Defense has completed its first month, and today we are releasing our biggest update yet!

Over the past month, we have carefully reviewed player feedback, long progression tests, combat results, balance data, localization issues, save-system behavior, and many smaller usability problems.

This update touches almost every major part of the game: bosses, combat feedback, achievements, progression, storage, localization, game speed, user interface, equipment upgrades, save protection and much more.

Thank you to everyone who played the game, reported problems, shared feedback, and helped shape this update.

BOSSES HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY REWORKED

Boss battles are now much more dynamic and readable.

All major bosses now enter new combat phases when their health falls below 65% and 30%. As their phase increases, bosses become faster and use their special abilities more frequently.

Before using a special ability, bosses now display a 1.3-second flashing warning. After completing the ability, they enter a 1.8-second vulnerable state and receive 25% additional damage.

A new status display above each boss shows its current phase, ability warning, defensive state and vulnerability window.

Boss ability timers also pause correctly whenever the game is paused.

Each boss now has a unique mechanic:

  • Goblin King: Enters a rage sprint and rapidly closes the distance.

  • Minotaur: Performs a much stronger charge with an aggressive movement-speed boost.

  • Orc Chief: Uses a shield that reduces incoming damage by 45%.

  • Skeleton King: Activates bone armor that reduces incoming damage by 65% and breaks after receiving a limited number of hits.

  • Reptilian Queen: Attempts to heal during combat. Healing can be interrupted by dealing damage, and total healing is limited to 12% of maximum health per encounter.

Boss rewards and offering progression have also been reviewed to reduce repetitive results and make boss victories feel more rewarding.

IMPROVED ENEMY AND BOSS HEALTH BARS

Enemies now have clearer red health bars above their heads.

When an enemy receives damage, the red health immediately decreases while a white delayed-damage section follows behind it. This makes powerful attacks much easier to read.

Boss encounters now feature a dedicated boss health bar below the player-level display.

We also fixed several health-bar visibility problems:

  • Health bars no longer appear above Inventory, Skill Tree, Stage Map or Boss Offering panels.

  • Combat health bars remain hidden in the Dragon Area, Food Garden, Forest, Mine and Fishing areas.

  • Health bars are hidden correctly during camera transitions.

  • New bars are no longer visible before receiving their correct screen position.

  • Bars belonging to defeated enemies no longer reappear during their closing animation.

MORE IMPACTFUL COMBAT

Combat now has significantly more visual feedback.

  • Critical hits, boss attacks and high combos can trigger a light, organic camera shake.

  • Enemies briefly flash when struck by projectiles or abilities.

  • Defeated enemies produce new gold sparkle, ash and smoke effects.

  • Attack and combo indicators now respect menu layering.

The old micro-freeze and hit-stop behavior that could leave the game running at an incorrect speed has been removed. Combat should now feel smoother and more consistent.

NEW GAME SPEED CONTROLS

Players who reach Stage 2 can now control the pace of the game.

The available speeds are:

  • 1x — Standard speed

  • 1.5x — Accelerated speed

  • 2x — Maximum speed

Your selected speed is saved and restored automatically.

The speed interface hides while blocking menus are open, pauses the action correctly and returns to the previously selected speed when gameplay resumes.

Keyboard shortcuts are also available:

  • Keys 1, 2 and 3 select a speed directly.

  • Tab or T cycles through the available speeds.

37 STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS

Dragon Fire Defense now features a complete achievement system containing 37 achievements.

Achievements cover many different parts of the game:

  • Stage and chapter progression

  • Defeating every major boss

  • Winning a boss battle without taking damage

  • Completing a stage at 2x speed

  • Hatching your first dragon egg

  • Reaching Dragon Levels 10, 25 and 50

  • Owning a three-star Legendary dragon

  • Reaching the maximum dragon bond tier

  • Placing three dragons in the tower

  • Reaching a 20-hit combo

  • Triggering High Voltage against a wet enemy

  • Defeating 100 elite enemies

  • Defeating 1,000 enemies

  • Unlocking the 10-million-capacity storage tier

  • Collecting 1,000,000 Gold

  • Reaching maximum Mine Collector level

  • Opening your first loot chest

  • Completing equipment and rune milestones

  • Discovering Choice Events and hidden offerings

  • Catching different fish and performing a Perfect Hook

The hidden final achievement, Lord of Dragons, is awarded after completing every other achievement.

The game also performs a retroactive progression scan. Players who already completed eligible milestones before this update can receive the corresponding achievements without starting a new save.

Every achievement has dedicated artwork, with 37 full-color unlocked icons and 37 dark locked variants.

STORAGE EXPANDED TO 10 MILLION

A new endgame storage upgrade has been added.

After reaching the previous 2,000,000 capacity tier, players can now purchase a massive 10,000,000-capacity storage upgrade using resources.

The storage panel, upgrade requirements, affordability checks and localization have all been updated to support the new tier.

Resource counters now resize more reliably when displaying large values, reducing overlap with storage and chest interface elements.

ECONOMY AND PROGRESSION IMPROVEMENTS

Several progression systems were reviewed using extended gameplay and economy tests.

  • The Mine Auto Collector can now correctly reach Level 7.

  • Existing saves are migrated so the additional collector levels appear correctly.

  • The Fishing upgrade remains hidden until the Mine requirement is met.

  • High-tier swords now provide stronger base damage.

  • High-tier shoes provide more meaningful attack-speed improvements.

  • Transcendent equipment should now feel appropriately powerful for its rarity and acquisition difficulty.

  • Early-stage difficulty and resource flow have been reviewed.

  • Market-dependent Wood, Stone and Gold demand has been considered during balancing.

BLACKSMITH UPGRADE CHANCES FIXED

A serious mismatch between the displayed blacksmith success chance and the actual upgrade roll has been corrected.

A displayed 100% chance is now genuinely guaranteed to succeed. Other upgrade chances should also behave consistently with the percentage shown in the interface.

This fixes situations where guaranteed Leather equipment upgrades could fail or high-probability Stone equipment upgrades failed much more frequently than intended.

NEW STORY PRESENTATION AND CHOICE EVENTS

A new dialogue presentation system has been introduced for story moments.

During conversations with the player’s father, his portrait appears on the right side of the dialogue window. During the player’s responses, the presentation moves to the left and the father’s portrait is hidden.

The dialogue interface includes localized navigation and skip controls while correctly pausing gameplay in the background.

Choice Events have also been integrated into progression, giving players additional encounters and decisions outside regular combat.

SAVE SYSTEM AND STEAM CLOUD PREPARATION

The save system has received a major reliability overhaul while preserving existing PlayerPrefs progress.

The game now maintains a versioned physical save file and tracks dynamic save keys and their data types.

New protection includes:

  • Migration support for existing save data.

  • Backward compatibility with older save formats.

  • Protection against corrupted or unsupported save files.

  • Detection of duplicate or invalid save entries.

  • Safe file replacement.

  • Backup of the last known working save.

  • Isolation of corrupted files instead of silently overwriting them.

  • Protection against deleted values unexpectedly returning.

  • Automatic saving during pause, focus loss and application exit.

  • Grouped save operations to reduce unnecessary disk writes.

  • Device-specific graphics settings remaining local.

The new physical save format is designed for Steam Auto-Cloud synchronization and includes integration support for Steam Remote Storage.

Tower dragon placement persistence has also been fixed. All three unlocked tower slots should now preserve their assigned dragons after closing and reopening the game.

15-LANGUAGE LOCALIZATION OVERHAUL

Localization coverage has been expanded and corrected across the game.

Supported languages include:

  • Turkish

  • English

  • German

  • French

  • Italian

  • Latin American Spanish

  • Russian

  • Ukrainian

  • Simplified Chinese

  • Japanese

  • Korean

  • Thai

  • Vietnamese

  • Brazilian Portuguese

  • Polish

Achievement titles and descriptions are available in all 15 languages.

We also improved font handling for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Cyrillic text. This addresses missing-glyph squares that could appear in market item names, dragon names and other dynamically generated text.

Canonical dragon names are localized while custom player-created dragon names remain unchanged.

The Storage interface, market messages, tower controls and other recently added systems have received additional localization coverage.

NEW ACHIEVEMENT NOTIFICATIONS

Unlocking an achievement now displays a new animated notification in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

The notification slides into view, remains visible for approximately 3.6 seconds and then smoothly leaves the screen. It features a gold frame, localized text, language-appropriate fonts and a notification sound.

USER INTERFACE AND QUALITY-OF-LIFE IMPROVEMENTS

  • The Settings menu now follows the selected game language.

  • Inventory can be closed with Escape.

  • The Skill Tree can be closed with Escape.

  • Blocking menus now correctly prevent interaction with the game world.

  • Combat indicators no longer render above important menus.

  • The Market refresh countdown no longer becomes “New Text” after changing language.

  • Large resource values resize to fit their available area.

  • Storage, market and dragon-name text received additional font and alignment corrections.

  • Responsive UI behavior has been improved across multiple panels.

THANK YOU FOR THE FIRST MONTH!

This is the largest Dragon Fire Defense update so far, but development and polishing will continue.

Our next focus will be long-session progression testing, later chapters, additional balance improvements and resolving any remaining interface or localization problems reported by the community.

Thank you for playing Dragon Fire Defense and supporting the game during its first month.

Every report, review and suggestion helps make the game better.

See you in the next update — and good luck defending your realm!
