OVERDUE’s Demo Overhaul Is Here

On Steam

A major update to the OVERDUE demo is here.

We’ve revisited the first three nights, expanded the mystery surrounding Bellweather Library, and worked through the rough edges players have been finding during testing.

Some of the most useful feedback was about the moments that interrupted the atmosphere: a task that wasn’t clear, an awkward item grip, furniture disappearing as you turned, or a scare that didn’t play out properly for everyone in co-op. Those reports helped shape this update.

Here’s what’s changed:

More story in the first three nights. Reworked patron conversations, a new look into Bellweather’s past, and a revised demo ending give you more to uncover—and more questions to carry into the full game. If you’ve played before, start a fresh run to see how the pieces fit together now.

New and reworked horror encounters. We’ve revised chase behavior, scare timing, and recovery sequences. We’ll leave the details for you to discover in the library.

Clearer tasks and more natural interactions. We’ve refined guidance for the repair, stamping, and catalog stations, cleaned up highlights that lingered after tasks, and added clearer direction for watering. Item grips, held-object positioning, seated characters, and camera transitions have also received attention.

A substantial visual pass. Updated scenery, materials, lighting, and environmental details bring more character to the library and its surroundings. We’ve also addressed distracting problems with props, brick coverage, and moved furniture or smaller objects disappearing from view.

Better co-op consistency. Shared workstation actions, story events, doors, and player recovery have received synchronization fixes. The goal is for everyone to experience the same moment together, with clearer timing and fewer interruptions.

Interface and localization improvements. We’ve addressed overlapping dialogue, refined urgent warnings and camera guidance, and updated localized text and font checks across the demo’s 17 supported languages.

We’ve also adjusted the night two encounter for solo players, giving you room to recover and complete it if you’re caught. Playing alone should be tense without leaving you trapped in repeated knockdowns.

This demo covers nights 1–3. There’s more waiting beyond those nights in the full game, but this update is focused on making the opening experience richer, clearer, and more unsettling.

Thank you to everyone who has played, shared screenshots, reported bugs, and told us when something wasn’t working. Specific feedback has made a real difference here.

Give the updated demo a try, alone or with friends, and let us know how it goes. If you find a problem, tell us which night it happened on, whether you were hosting or joining, and what happened just before it. Screenshots and clips help enormously.

See you on the night shift.

Thank You!
