Major Update: Player Stations & Mining Camps

On Steam

Hello Bastards,

With this update, Mining Camps and Player Stations arrive in Ore Bastards, adding a new layer of ownership, expansion and long-term progression to the game.

Until now, finding a rich part of space usually meant one thing: fill the cargo hold, sell the ore, and eventually move on.

Now you can decide that some places are worth staying for.

Mining Camps

During your travels, you may discover valuable Rich Ore Fields scattered across space.

Instead of simply mining them and leaving, you can now claim suitable locations and establish your own Mining Camp.

Building a camp requires an actual investment. Credits alone aren't enough — construction materials must be transported to the site, turning expansion into something you physically prepare for rather than something purchased from a menu.

Once operational, the camp's mining drones begin working the surrounding resource field.

That means a good discovery can become a long-term source of resources instead of a one-time mining trip.

You can visit your camps, inspect what they have produced, transfer specific ores, deliver materials for upgrades and gradually improve their capabilities.

And as your operation grows, logistics become increasingly important. Camps can be developed to handle more of the transportation work themselves, moving their output toward your station network instead of requiring you to personally haul every shipment.

The galaxy isn't waiting for you, either.

NPC mining camps can also appear in valuable resource areas. Some rich fields may already belong to somebody else, making ownership of good mining territory another part of exploration.

Finding a great ore field now has a different feeling:

"Do I mine this?"

or...

"Do I build something here?"

HELP?

Along with the new update, we've also updated the official Ore Bastards guide.

If you'd like to learn more about Mining Camps and Player Stations, you can find all the relevant details in the guide, which is also accessible directly from within the game.

Player Stations

Mining Camps are only the beginning.

You can now construct your own space stations and begin turning scattered mining operations into a real frontier network.

A Player Station is much more than a place to dock. It is a permanent base that can be developed with different modules depending on what you want that station to become.

The current station modules include:

  • Operations Center — expands your operational reach, improves station capabilities and allows you to support more Mining Camps.

  • Security Grid — adds defensive turrets, strengthens station integrity and creates a protected zone around your station.

  • Repair Bay — provides repair services and becomes increasingly useful and efficient as it is upgraded.

  • Trade Exchange — develops the station's commercial role, expanding its market capabilities and economic activity.

Stations themselves can progress through three tiers, while their modules can also be upgraded from Level 1 to Level 3.

A Tier 1 station is a small frontier foothold.

A Tier 3 station can become the center of a much larger operation.

And these upgrades aren't instant button presses. Major construction projects require Credits and materials, and those resources can be delivered gradually. Building an infrastructure network is intended to feel like an actual project you develop over time.

Your Own Corner of the Galaxy

The most important part of this update isn't a single module, bonus or new menu.

It's what these systems do together.

You might discover a remote resource field while exploring.

You establish a Mining Camp.

That camp begins producing ore.

Later, you construct a station in the region.

You expand its Operations Center, increase the number of camps you can support, protect the area with a Security Grid, develop repair facilities and establish a Trade Exchange.

A place that was once just another point you passed through can slowly become your territory, your infrastructure and your economy.

This also gives exploration a new purpose.

Distance isn't only about finding better ore or more dangerous enemies anymore. You may be searching for the next place worth investing in.

The New Operations Panel

We've also added a completely new Operations Panel, accessible at any time by pressing O.

Just like the Ship Panel (I) gives you access to information about your ship, the Operations Panel is a new global interface for managing your broader progression throughout Ore Bastards.

From here, you can access several important areas of your character and growing operation:

  • Structures — view and manage the facilities you own, including Mining Camps and Player Stations.

  • Economy — follow the development of your growing economic network.

  • Character Progression — keep track of your broader progression beyond individual ships and equipment.

  • Skills — access and manage your character's skill development.

As your operation expands, it becomes increasingly useful: what begins as a character and skill management screen gradually grows into a central overview of your structures, economy and long-term development.

Think of it this way:

The Ship Panel is about your ship.

The Operations Panel is about you — and everything you're building across the galaxy. This Is Only the Foundation

Mining Camps and Player Stations are designed as systems we can continue building on.

They give us a foundation for deeper logistics, economic networks, station activity, new structures and more reasons to care about the places you discover.

Ore Bastards has always been about starting small — one ship, some questionable equipment and a lot of empty space ahead of you.

Now, if you survive long enough, some of that space can finally become yours.

Find it. Claim it. Build it. Defend it.

See you out there, bastards.
