📢 Update Notes - 11/09/26

On Steam

[NPCs]

  • Pyrrion (Underworld): reduce its HP to 7000 (9500 >> 7000), increase its EXP to 9800 (7125 >> 9800), and remove the FIRE element.

  • Gran Blaze (Underworld): reduce its HP to 7500 (11000 >> 7500), increase its EXP to 10125 (7700 >> 10125), and remove the FIRE element.

The drop of the DD Nocthral boss was adjusted: it now has a 0.5% chance to drop Firestorm upon death. Gold: 850 >> 1200.

The drop of the DM Escarlath boss was adjusted: it now has a 0.5% chance to drop Immobilize/Stun. Gold: 950 >> 1300.

The Laican boss was moved to the entrance of the Desolation Cave.

[SPELLS]

The Magic skill required to cast the Invisibility spell is adjusted: 87 >> 63. This addresses the fact that magic-based characters could allocate skills early enough to cast this spell, while other classes that allocate around level 30 had to wait until that level, creating an imbalance.

The mana required for the Stun spell is reduced from 300 to 250. This is because the mana cost of Stun should be, at the very least, equal to that of removing paralysis or restoring mobility, as the previous cost was rewarding defensive play over offensive play. A semi-magic character that only removed paralysis would leave no options for another semi-magic character attempting to immobilize them, causing the latter to run out of mana before their opponent.

[QUESTS]

  • New quest "Beyond the Entanglement", available to Paladins, Assassins, and Bandits starting at level 24. This new quest allows the Entangle spell to evolve into Stun. The quest starts with Eldran, on map 560 "Penthar".

  • New quest "The Guardian's Scroll". To complete it, players must obtain the Guardian's Scroll, which has a 3% chance of dropping when killing the Elven Ent, Zeraphon, Giganthor, or the Ice Giant. The quest requires killing each of these bosses once, and the Ice Giant five times. It rewards 50,000 experience and 5,000 gold.

  • The Underworld Dungeon quest was reworked. It now requires killing all NPCs in the area, with a reward of 40,000 experience and 2,000 gold.

  • The experience reward for the quest "The Fragment of the Four" was adjusted: 10,000 > 20,000.

The NPC Meren, who gives the repeatable drop quest in Dragon Dungeon (-25), was moved from map 11 to the dungeon entrance on map 24.

The NPC Eldric, who gives the repeatable Marabel Dungeon quest, was moved from map 70 to map 76, at the DM entrance.

The NPC Jace, who gives the repeatable DM quest, was moved from map 1 to map 53.

The quest NPC Rhamses was created at the Pyramid entrance, map 21. It now provides the quests The Awakening of the Pyramid and The Nameless King's Necklace, which were previously given by NPC Heral in Kamal.

[ITEMS]

The skills required for a worker to craft Elemental Runes were corrected: 70 >> 63.

Implement tiered gold costs for /home. (#1757)

  • Add configurable, tiered home teleport costs. Declares.bas: introduce HOME_COST_TIER_COUNT and arrays for tier min/max levels and floor/cap GLD. FileIO.bas: load HOME_COST_TIER<n> values from Balance.ini. Protocol/Home: add CalculateHomeCostGLD to compute cost (linear interpolation inside a tier, fallback to last tier cap), check/subtract player gold, and pass cost into goHome. Update goHome signature to include HomeCostGLD and show the deducted amount in the locale message.

Adds configurable and progressive home teleport costs based on level.

Changes:

  • Declares.bas: HOME_COST_TIER_COUNT and the arrays for minimum/maximum levels and GLD floor/cap per tier are added.

  • FileIO.bas: HOME_COST_TIER<n> values are loaded from Balance.dat.

  • Hogar.bas: CalculateHomeCostGLD is added to calculate the cost (linear interpolation within each tier, with fallback to the tier cap if the player's level exceeds the defined range), the player's gold is validated and deducted, and the cost is passed to goHome. The goHome signature is updated to include HomeCostGLD and display the deducted amount in the localized message.

Cost per tier:

  • Level 1 to 12, between 10 and 100 gold.

  • Level 13 to 19, between 120 and 200 gold.

  • Level 20 to 24, between 220 and 300 gold.

  • Level 25 to 28, between 400 and 1000 gold.

  • Level 29 to 32, between 1100 and 2000 gold.

  • Level 33 to 47, between 2100 and 3500 gold.

The cost within each tier scales linearly between the floor (minimum level of the tier) and the cap (maximum level of the tier).

Validate home cost tiers and add fallback

Adds explicit validation for the home cost tiers: declares HomeCostTiersValid and implements ValidateHomeCostTiers (called from LoadBalance), which logs errors, checks for invalid ranges/continuity, and sets the flag. CalculateHomeCostGLD falls back to the previous formula when the tiers are invalid, preventing /home from becoming free with an incomplete or invalid Balance.dat. Also changes goHome to send the localized system message via WriteLocaleMsg (with channel and source) instead of WriteConsoleMsg.

Adds castle maps (758-772) to the list of areas where potions are not consumed when used.
