The installer/launcher used to run silently on Linux and only print vague
PowerShell output on Windows, so it wasn't always obvious it was doing
anything during a first install or update.
On Linux, it now asks where to install on first run (defaulting to the
usual location), checks the folder is actually writable before starting,
and shows a text progress bar while downloading. If it's launched without
a terminal attached, such as through Steam, it opens one itself so you can
see what's happening.
On Windows, first install now lets you choose where to install (again
defaulting to the usual location) and registers a proper uninstall entry
in Windows' Add/Remove Programs. First install and updates both now show
a proper progress bar instead of the old PowerShell text.
