Chaos Front · public · first seen
Hello everyone!
Since yesterday, I've pushed out over a dozen small updates. Here's what's changed:
1.Added the option to buy ×5 items at once.
2.Added an Options button to the system menu in the strategy scene.
3.When selecting an AMRS in the formation Menu, that pilot's custom ARMS’ icon will now glow and flash in the list based on the currently selected pilot.
4.When a unit is ambushed and every target it could counter-attack has a hit-and-run ability, both the player and the AI will now default to not counter-attacking, though it can still be selected manually.
5.If a completed mission is mutually exclusive with an engage in the current faction battle, all engages in that battle will now automatically reshuffle.
6.Fixed a very rare bug that could cause the world map to freeze during autosave.
7.In the faction war's Reinforce Intercept mission, the Marching Leagues' main force now arrives on turn 3 instead.
8.Fixed a bug in a small number of engages where diving enemy submarines could be seen.
9.Slightly increased the power gained when the Fleet Primus uses its Ask Reinforcements order.
10.Changed the Lycurgus company's starting tradition point allocation from Level 1 Death or Glory to Level 1 Profit-Seeker.
11.Fixed a bug in the Lycurgus company's Peer Re-Feud mission where Trurl being destroyed incorrectly resulted in a victory.
12.Reward for the mission Amateur Pirates has been changed to 1 Bedouin.
This is the final update of launch week. Since release, I've done nothing but eat, sleep, and work for the entire week, pushing out nearly a hundred updates. I'm thoroughly exhausted, both physically and mentally. But I'm genuinely grateful for everyone's feedback this week, which has made Chaos Front noticeably more polished and brought it essentially in line with the standard I had in mind for a finished game. If you were holding off on playing because you were worried about bugs or frequent changes, you can now jump in and get a solid experience.
Chaos Front is the fourth entry in the Chaos Galaxy series. I never read feedback submitted in the form of negative reviews., but the "Mixed" overall rating tells me the community is genuinely split on this one. That data alone is enough to shape how I think about future projects.
First, my next project will not continue in the SRPG direction. I'll be returning to the grand strategy direction of Chaos Galaxy 2, which has broader appeal among fans.
Second, development time on a solo indie game is extremely precious, and I spent roughly two thirds of my total working time on the producing combat animations, which ended up having no positive impact on player reception whatsoever. That tells me this was a serious misallocation of effort. Going forward, I'll be putting far more of my focus into gameplay content rather than combat visuals, and combat animations will return to the chess-based battle style of Chaos Galaxy 2.
As for the subject of the next project, it will of course still take place within this vast Chaos Galaxy universe, but the specific setting still needs consideration for what's genuinely interesting and distinctive, along with new gameplay features and their respective implementation difficulty for each entry. There may be a few failed concepts along the way, but I hope to formally share early information about the new project on Steam about a year from now.
Chaos Front will continue to receive bug fixes going forward, along with the occasional small quality of life improvement whenever I find something worth doing. Some translators will also keep refining the text over time. After this, I'll probably settle into an update rhythm of around 2 to 3 times a month. But, whether it's maintaining this game or planning the next one, all of that can wait a few days. I've been developing continuously for three years now, on top of a highly intense week of crunch, so I'm going to properly rest for a few days first.
On a final note, Chaos Front's launch week sales have been satisfying, so there's no need to worry about me stopping development for financial reasons anytime soon. As long as my health allows, I plan to keep expanding the Chaos Galaxy universe for at least the next decade.
Thank you again, as always, for your continued support of this series!
