Version 68 — Ground Looting & Placement Update

On Steam

Version 68 — Ground Looting & Placement Update

Version 68 improves how you interact with loot in the world, makes the nearby-container UI easier to read, prevents accidental overlapping while building, and fixes several magazine and ammo issues.

Ground Looting

Loot sitting at your feet can now be accessed directly from the container bar.

A new Ground entry appears whenever items are nearby, showing everything on the floor along with its name and rarity.

Taking an item from the Ground panel uses the same crouch-and-grab animation as normal looting.

If there is only one item at your feet, pressing E still picks it up immediately. If there is a pile of items, simply open the Ground panel instead.

The old centred item-selection popup has been removed, along with the outdated "Press E to choose an item" prompt.

Improved Container Bar

The container you currently have open is now highlighted.

When several containers, bodies, or piles of loot are nearby, it should now be much easier to tell which one you're actually looking through.

The First Quest Now Points You at the Body

During the first quest, the dead soldier's container icon now pulses when the game asks you to loot his body.

The pulse disappears as soon as you open the container.

Building Placement Now Prevents Overlapping

Buildings, furniture, and props can no longer be accidentally placed directly on top of each other.

The placement check uses the actual ground footprint of an object rather than its visual collision box, so normal isometric overlap is still allowed.

For example, placing a chair visually in front of a table is completely fine.

If a location is already occupied, the placement preview turns red before you place the object.

You can also still deliberately stack objects using Z-Level placement with the mouse wheel, allowing things such as:

  • Tarps above benches
  • Lights above tables
  • Other intentionally layered decorations

Building inside tents and other interiors works as before.

Farming

Freshly planted seedlings no longer incorrectly draw in front of the player.

Only crops that have grown tall enough will now sort in front of or behind you.

Magazine & Ammo Fixes

Several problems with the new magazine system have also been fixed:

  • Fixed hand-loaded magazines sometimes becoming empty after being inserted into a weapon.
  • Fixed topping up a magazine at the base consuming more ammunition than the magazine could actually hold.
  • Fixed attaching a silencer or other weapon part quietly restoring previously fired ammunition.
  • Fixed the first weapon equipped during a session sometimes displaying zero rounds even when its magazine was full.
  • Fixed removing a magazine from a weapon in your inventory sometimes copying the ammunition count from an entirely different weapon onto it.

Other Fixes

  • Fixed the Hold E to build percentage prompt remaining on screen after construction finished.
  • Fixed looting the tutorial soldier on later deployments sometimes creating a broken empty container.
  • Fixed a crash caused by walking onto a container during the raid loading sequence.
  • Fixed that same issue occasionally leaving a dead container icon stuck in the container bar.
  • Fixed screamers playing their hit reaction while facing the wrong direction.
  • Fixed a crash after death caused by blood decals from bullets still travelling after the raid had already ended.

Thanks again to everyone playing the playtest and reporting issues. More improvements are on the way.
