Keep them coming - thank you!

NEW

  • You can now change key bindings in the settings on the main and pause menus.

  • Crouch Defaults to Left Ctrl.

  • Added controller support - this needs testing as I only have an 8-bit-do. So anyone with PS, XBox or other controllers who would be willing to test and provide feedback, I would be grateful - sorry and expect it to be buggy for now. I've only coded for keyboard up until this point.

  • The Rubbish Mountains at the tip have been made into a true hero item and require some work to get going.

  • Spare packs, canisters, lighter fluid and petrol can now be found lying around off-site jobs. Press E to take one. They only appear if you own the tool they're for.

  • Whole-job pile bonus: burn every item of a yard job in one pile and you get an extra 25% on top of the pile bonus.

  • Fire is brighter and the two nearest fires now cast soft shadows (Medium quality and up).

  • Tool flames light the area around you properly. Pilot lights on the blowtorches act as torches, matches light a small area, and the held tool no longer glows white from its own flame.

  • The tip site now has pickupable refills around it for your owned items. Some of them you will have to really search for.

  • The flamethrower can no longer burn off padlocks. You get a prompt message explaining only blowtorches can do that.

TUTORIAL

  • You now start with just a box of matches. The first bag teaches hold-to-burn properly.

  • Big Dave lobs his old disposable lighter over the fence with the next two bags. It's highlighted until you grab it, and you have to light at least one of those bags with it before you're let loose with either tool.

ITEM PICKUP SYSTEM / PING CHANGES - TO HELP MAKE PILE BUILDING EASIER

  • You can now rotate held items by holding the right mouse button and moving the mouse.

  • You can now position held items forward/backward from the player position by using the scroll wheel on the mouse.

  • Looking at an item in pick up range now puts a highlight around it so you know which item you will pick up.

  • Changed the distance the look up label appears - it now appears at the range of the equipped tool + 2.5m so that it isn't showing across the entire yard. Flamethrower will give the longest distance.

  • In the yard, Q now highlights every job item rather than the nearest 12, so the ones that haven't made it to the pile show up.

  • Arrows only point at loose items. Anything already in the pile or next to a fire gets the highlight but no arrow.

  • Tool refills and Dave's lighter ping in gold with their own arrows.

MATCHES - MAKING MATCHES MORE USABLE AND USEFUL

  • Thrown matches now apply heat to the items they land on - this should help with starting fires with them.

  • Empty disposable lighters can no longer be "fired", and a depleted tool no longer spawns its empty drop every time you click (thanks to Christian Fenn for this one - video shown because it was quite funny).

  • Matches and Disposable Lighters now how a slightly longer range so you should be able to use them from standing.

  • Matches now visibly disappear from the Matchbox as you consume them.

  • Cops react to matches being thrown at them.

  • Matches burn for 5 seconds in the hand. Hold on past that and it burns your fingers: the match drops at your feet and you'll fumble for a second before you can strike another.

  • Right mouse button shakes a lit match out if you change your mind - this only works in the first 2 seconds.

  • Thrown and dropped matches now stick where they land instead of rolling off rounded bags, and heat a small area around the flame.

  • Heat re-tuned so holding three full match burns on a bag will light it and two never will. Thrown matches are a bit less reliable because the heat applies depending on where they land. Holding a match directly to a bag is always more reliable.

BUG FIXES

  • Walking into the back of a copper will no longer get you nicked. They should turn around giving you a short time to get away from them.

  • Fixed a bug where you randomly hovered in the air at the van while in the van menu.

  • Fixed an occurrence where if you are able to get into the tip without burning the padlock, when the cops show up the padlock is still seen floating in the air after they open the gates. Padlock now despawns properly in this instance.

  • Fixed a few object mesh issues and collider issues to reduce the number of "physics incidents", e.g. bins flying in ways they shouldn't be.

  • Added a "catch-all" for the odd occasion a player or item falls through the map -> items will reappear by the yard (or in the main part of the tip if offsite), player will go back to a certain location if that happens (in yard -> Player Spawn, In Tip -> By the gates).

  • Fire no longer renders through some skips and container walls at the Tip.

  • Fixed a bug where you could switch tool while holding a lit match - this allowed you to use both tools at the same time or if the tool had depleted, would spawn the tool's refill infinitely while the lit match was in hand.

WHAT IS COMING NEXT? (v0.1.5 & v0.1.6)

  • Categories on the jobs app - you will be able to sort by owner/giver, replayables, brand new, etc). Newest ones will always go to the top.

  • Lid / door rework to make them easier to open.

  • Forgotten Items or valuables hidden in openable containers / cabinets randomly.

  • Explosions - certain items will explode rather than just burn - e.g. empty gas containers (there's always a little left isn't there), large flammable liquid holders (the ones on the tip won't just be decoration anymore).

  • Gloop shader - plastic and rubber to gloop as it burns rather than just shrink.

  • Special padlocks that only the Industrial Blowtorch can burn off to give you access to other bonus areas at the tip (and eventually other offsite missions).

  • Tiered gear to protect against heat.

  • Upgradable gear such as a harness that lets you carry more refills.

  • Upgrade for the electric lighter to a gas-less electric lighter later in the game.

  • More pre-tip missions.
