Update 1.3.0 is our largest update since we released Cup and Counter just over a month ago. With this update, we have significantly increased the number of plants, art, and seating options available to you, while introducing new features such as the ability to put down walls.

Plant Overhaul

In this update, we have made a huge change to plants. The most noticeable is the introduction of 31 new plant varieties. Three of these are new hanging types and let you change the look and feel of your cafe to suit your needs.

On top of the new plants, we have made it possible to change up the pot they are placed in. You can now customize any plant with one of our 10 pot varieties. You can adjust the color of each one, just like the originals.

Three of the new plant types can even have their flower color adjusted through the customizer, so you aren't stuck with the color we authored.

New Seating Types

One part of Cup and Counter that has been a little lacking since release is the variety of seating types; you basically only had one type available in 2 or 4 arrangements. With this update, we are introducing three more visually distinct options that you can now purchase

From bar stools to sofas to more classic bench seats, you can now add much more visual variety to your Cafe.

Expanded Painting Options

On top of the new seating and plants, we have also added 5 more painting options. We plan to expand on these further down the track, but they've already increased the number of options available to you.

Updated Supply Placement Mechanics

A common sore point for players is that our free placement mechanic can be frustrating to use, especially when trying to set things up neatly or place bulk amounts of supplies.

We overhauled this system so it will try to automatically and cleanly build rows of items and feel more like stacking a shelf. We feel like we have struck a good middle ground for supply items between the whole completely free placement system and this slightly more rigid mini-grid.

Employees Can Now Restock

Our employees' restocking ability left a lot to be desired; they had the unfortunate habit of dumping items on the closest surface, which in many cases was the floor.

This update completely overhauls this functionality and makes the employees actually useful; they can now stock almost every supply item that you can buy, and will even make sure to stock items in the zones that they should be in; for example, milk would go in the fridge.

Of course, fully automatic employees could still leave a mess on your shelves, so we expanded this further by letting you control what actually goes on them. By selecting the shelf label, you can set the exact items that employees will choose to stock on it.

This can be super useful as well, as you can get them to place paper bags beneath your delivery counter, for example. Or you can have them neatly place milk into your fridge with each one on its own shelf.

Custom Rooms

Update 1.3.0 of Cup and Counter introduces new wall pieces that enable you to build and form your own walls within the Cafe. This gives you more freedom as a player, as you are able to build out specific areas and change up the general shape of the Cafe.

Selling Furniture Made Easier

A pain point with our selling furniture system is that it required you to make a rather long trip to sell anything off. While this might be fine for one or two items, if you had a whole bunch to sell, it could become very time-consuming.

To solve this, we've introduced new cages out the back of your cafe where you can place items you want to sell. These will be collected at the end of a game day, and you will be paid out accordingly.

Faster Day Turnaround

While we still plan to expand the purpose of the apartment, we now offer an alternative for those who want to focus purely on the experience of running their Cafe, without any of our world-building.

By the back door of your Cafe, you will now find a new terminal that lets you roll over to the next day. Get back instantly into the action without having to make the trip to bed.

Improved Cats

With this update, we have built even further on the cats. They now have a new bed type, as well as a feeding/drinking bowl. Cats will expect to have access to both food and milk throughout the day.

Additionally, you can now give your cats their very own name.

New Freezers

You can now keep a bulk supply of ice cream much more easily with the introduction of new freezers.

Vending Machines

Generate more passive income by purchasing a vending machine. With this update, you can now buy various vending machines around the plaza area. Keep them stocked up, and you will earn passive income as pedestrians buy drinks as they go about their days.

Updated Seasons

The world now changes with the seasons. Previously, even when the season changed, the game world continued to look the same. With this update, each season now has a visually distinct look.
