Flips: A 2D Flipbook Animation Tool by zelun_ · build 25010066 · published
Over the past few months, I've been working on expanding the tools available in Flips and making it easier to create, edit and share your animations.
Here's what's new:
Videos can now be imported directly into Flips.
This makes it possible to use videos as references, animate over them, experiment with rotoscoping, or simply bring existing footage into your projects.
Just pull the file to the window or press the Import File Button inside of File and options!
You can now select parts of your drawings and manipulate them without having to redraw everything.
The selection tool makes editing frames much faster and gives you more control when adjusting your animations.
Animations are no longer limited to visuals.
You can now import and add sounds or record them to your projects, making it possible to create animations with dialogue, sound effects, music and more.
Audio added to your animation is also included when exporting your project.
Flips now includes support for color palettes, making it easier to keep a consistent set of colors throughout your animation.
Flips is also becoming more accessible around the world with the addition of localization support.
The interface is now available in multiple languages. To be transparent, the translations were created with the help of AI, so there may still be some mistakes or awkward wording.
If you find any translation issues, please let me know! Your feedback will help improve the localization over time.
Alongside these features, the update includes several smaller improvements, fixes and changes across the application. Flips has grown a lot since its original release, and I want to keep improving it while keeping the simple animation workflow that the project was originally built around.
Thank you to everyone who has used Flips and sent feedback.
I hope you enjoy the update!
