Update 0.20.0 is now available.
When we shared our housing progress report, you saw an early look at one of the largest additions we have ever made to Beyond Solar. Since then, we have continued adding content, improving the visuals, polishing the controls, and making sure your home feels like a real part of the game.
Today, we are opening the doors: player housing is now available in the public.

Build it room by room, furnish it, and make it yours.
Every pilot begins with a permanent Starter Cabin. From there, you can expand into a home of up to 20 connected rooms, choosing from seven additional room layouts ranging from a compact Pod to a full Grand Hall.
Build upward, outward, or a little of both. Try different layouts, rearrange rooms as your plans change, and use the live house map to keep track of a growing home. If a room no longer fits your idea, it and everything inside it can be returned safely to storage.
Undo and redo controls also make it easy to experiment. Housing is meant to be played with—your first design never has to be your final one.
The update includes more than 70 furnishings across decor, furniture, utility, lighting, interactive, comfort, and achievement collections.
Create a practical workshop, a quiet cabin, a trophy gallery, a futuristic lounge, or something that makes sense only to you. Furnishings can be placed, moved, duplicated, stored, and marked as favorites so the items you love are always easy to find.
We have also upgraded Housing's visual presentation since our last progress report. Room lighting has received a major polish pass, with stronger color and atmosphere throughout the home. Pilots and furnishings now respond more naturally to the surrounding light, helping every room carry its own mood.

Shape each room with furnishings, color, and light.
Placement and movement have been polished too, with improved landing motion, visual feedback, sound, camera response, controller haptics, smoother menus, and upgraded transitions. You can even activate Zero-G and watch gravity-enabled furnishings drift around the home before returning safely to their saved positions.
Housing is connected to the rest of Beyond Solar through a new blueprint system. Eligible enemies and boss parts can drop rarity-colored blueprints during normal play. Discover one, gather the required resources, and craft a new furnishing for your home.
The Achievements screen has also grown into Collections, where separate Achievement and Blueprint tabs let you see what you have unlocked, what you have discovered, and what is still waiting out there.
This means your home can grow alongside your progress. Missions provide resources, battles can reveal blueprints, and earned achievements can become decorations you can proudly place on display.
Many furnishings do more than look good. Your home can become a personal hub between missions:
These services use each pilot's own progression, so visitors can use supported terminals without changing the homeowner's private save.
Keep your home Private, open it to Friends Only, or list it publicly through the Residential Relay. Up to four pilots can share one housing session: one owner and three visitors.
Explore together, move from room to room, see the owner's latest changes, and communicate through a radial wheel of quick emoji reactions. Player nameplates also show each pilot's equipped portrait and frame.
The homeowner remains in control of construction and furnishing edits, so visitors can enjoy the space without rearranging it. Your personal home and inventory always remain separate from the homes you visit.
Owners can invite a connected visitor to a separate unranked House Duel. The invited pilot can accept or decline, and everyone else can remain inside the home while the duel takes place.
The House Duel Terminal broadcasts the fighters and live score to the pilots who stayed behind. When the match ends, both competitors return to the same home and the housing session continues.
House Duels are a social side activity and do not replace or change the existing ranked and friend-invite PvP modes.
New housing saves begin with a short guided introduction. It walks through exploring the Starter Cabin, choosing a lighting color, placing and moving the first decoration, and attaching a complimentary room.
Housing supports keyboard and gamepad, rebinding-aware prompts, controller haptics, and dedicated Steam Deck scaling. Housing text is available in English, Arabic, German, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese.
Homes use their own protected save data. Signed-in pilots use Cloud Save, signed-out pilots can build using local storage, and visiting another home cannot overwrite your own layout.
Beyond Solar now includes a native 64-bit Linux build for SteamOS and supported desktop Linux systems. Steam will automatically install the appropriate version for your operating system.
The game also includes dedicated Steam Deck improvements, including native 1280×800 handling, clearer dialogue text, improved interface scaling, and better controller navigation.
We are continuing to test and improve the Steam Deck experience. Valve's official Steam Deck compatibility review is separate from this announcement, and an official Verified or Playable rating will appear on the store page when awarded.
The update also includes a broad set of improvements throughout the existing game:
Multiplayer housing features require an online sign-in. Housing construction remains available with local save data while signed out.
This update has been a major undertaking for our team, and we are excited to finally place it in your hands. Thank you for supporting Beyond Solar and for giving us the time to turn Housing into a real part of the game.
We cannot wait to see the homes you create, the blueprints you discover, and the spaces you choose to share with the community.
Welcome home, pilots.
