Minesweeper Match Major Update: Development Progress & remake Beta Now Available

On Steam

Hello, this is OOJJRS.

Thank you to everyone who has been waiting. Today, we would like to share an update on the major overhaul currently in development.

This update goes far beyond adding a few new features. We are rebuilding the game's art, content, and overall play experience. Not every feature is finished yet, but you can now try the content completed so far through the remake beta branch on Steam.

What's Available in the Current Beta

A Complete Art Overhaul

We have recreated the art for the game's main screens and gameplay elements to improve its overall look and readability. Menus, interfaces, boards, tiles, flags, effects, and many other visual elements now have a new appearance.

Quick Start: Classic Minesweeper

Quick Start lets you enjoy classic Minesweeper on your own. Play at your own pace and enjoy the core Minesweeper experience without competing against other players.

Quick Start: Treasuresweeper

You can also select Treasuresweeper from Quick Start. It has a different objective and flow from classic Minesweeper, combining the challenge of avoiding mines with the excitement of uncovering treasure.

Six Themes with Mode-Specific Music

The beta includes six themes, each with its own board and visual style. Every theme also features separate background music for Minesweeper and Treasuresweeper.

Support for 10 Languages

The game supports Korean, English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. We are continuing to review the translations and on-screen text, and will improve any awkward wording or display issues found during the beta.

Current Beta Limitations

This is an early test build intended to validate the core gameplay and systems of the overhaul.

In Quick Start, some game settings—including board size and the number of mines or treasures—are currently fixed. Options for selecting a custom difficulty or board configuration are not available yet. During the beta, our priority is to test the core game flow, stability, controls, and new systems rather than the amount of content.

Features Still in Development

The following features are still being developed and are not included as finished content in this beta build.

Stage-Based Singleplayer Mode

Separate from Quick Start, the Singleplayer menu is being developed as a stage-based mode with a variety of layouts and objectives. Our goal is to add new twists and challenges to each stage and create content that remains enjoyable over repeated playthroughs.

Multiplayer Mode

We are also rebuilding the multiplayer experience. As multiplayer is a core part of Minesweeper Match, we plan to release it only after thoroughly testing match stability, controls, synchronization, and the overall ruleset.

How to Join the Beta

The major update can currently be played through the remake beta branch on Steam.

  1. Right-click Minesweeper Match in your Steam Library.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Open the Betas tab.
  4. Choose the remake branch from the Beta Participation list.
  5. Launch the game after the update finishes downloading.

Please remember that this is a work-in-progress build. Features may change, and unexpected issues may occur. The stage-based Singleplayer mode and Multiplayer mode will be added through future updates as development continues.

What's Next

We will first test the content and systems currently implemented on the remake branch, then continue improving the game based on feedback and test results.

We will share more as the new Singleplayer stages and Multiplayer mode take shape, along with updated gameplay screenshots and a new trailer. Once the overhaul has received sufficient testing and polish, we plan to move it to Steam's default branch as the full update.

Thank you to everyone who has waited so patiently. We hope you will follow the development of the new Minesweeper Match.
