Turbo Era Boss 0.4.8 is a major Early Access update focused on making races more believable, technical development more meaningful and the entire game more atmospheric.

WHAT’S NEW SINCE 0.4.7

RACES NOW FOLLOW REAL DISTANCE

Race progress is now calculated from the physical distance completed by each car.

This means cars can be properly lapped, regain a lap where possible and finish at the correct race distance. The circuit map, lap counter, race clock, classification and displayed gaps now follow the same authoritative race progress.

Drivers who are behind the leader can now be shown as:

• +1 LAP

• +2 LAPS

• Additional laps behind where applicable

The race ends according to the leader’s real progress rather than an approximate lap state, producing more consistent finishes and classifications.

DISTANCE-BASED FUEL, WEAR AND RELIABILITY

Fuel consumption, tyre wear, engine wear, turbo wear and reliability exposure are now connected to the actual distance travelled.

A car that covers less distance no longer receives the same wear exposure as a car completing the full race distance. This also improves the consistency of shortened races, retirements, pit stops and cars running several laps behind.

CONDITION-DRIVEN RACE INCIDENTS

Non-mechanical incidents are now generated from the conditions surrounding each driver rather than relying on fixed retirement targets.

Risk can increase during:

• Race starts and opening laps

• Heavy traffic and close contact

• Running the wrong tyre for the weather

• Using slick tyres on a wet or mixed surface

• Using intermediate tyres in severe rain

• Continuing on critically worn tyres

Drivers can now spin, run wide, make contact or aquaplane.

Most incidents result in realistic time loss instead of an immediate retirement. Serious incidents can still end a driver’s race, but the consequence now depends more closely on the situation that caused it.

DEEPER CAR DEVELOPMENT

Completed development is no longer automatically installed on the cars.

Turbo Era Boss now distinguishes between:

• Available technical capability

• The specification currently deployed on the race cars

Car, engine and tyre developments can be deployed independently from Team HQ. This gives the player direct control over when a new package is introduced.

Deployment applies to both team cars from the next eligible session and is locked while qualifying or a race is already in progress.

MEANINGFUL DEVELOPMENT TRADE-OFFS

Development projects now communicate their complete effect rather than presenting every upgrade as a simple performance increase.

Depending on the selected focus, a project can affect:

• Performance

• Reliability margin

• Component wear

• Durability

• Recovery

Performance-focused, reliability-focused and balanced projects now create different strategic outcomes. A faster specification may introduce additional reliability or wear pressure, while a more conservative programme may sacrifice some immediate pace.

ENGINE AND TYRE SUPPLIER PROGRAMMES

Engine and tyre development now reflects the relationship between the team and its supplier.

Supplier access can operate through several levels:

• Works or favoured programme

• Preferred access

• Customer access

• Previous-specification support

The access level influences how the team requests assistance, the credits required and when a supplier specification becomes available.

Supplier releases now follow controlled schedules, and engine and tyre programmes evolve across seasons without allowing uncontrolled performance gaps.

THE PLAYER REMAINS IN CONTROL

The team boss now has explicit authority over development deployment.

There is no hidden AI automatically installing completed car, engine or tyre specifications for the player. New capability can remain available at Team HQ until you decide that the team is ready to race it.

EXPANDED 1980s-INSPIRED SOUNDTRACK

Update 0.4.8 introduces a much larger music experience throughout Turbo Era Boss.

The Team HQ now has a shuffled playlist featuring seven new tracks, alongside the existing headquarters ambience. The playlist continues automatically while avoiding the same sequence every time you return to HQ.

The update also introduces:

• New cinematic prologue music

• New end-credit music

• New historical loading and race presentation music

• Improved transitions between headquarters, grid, race and presentation audio

• Better stopping and restarting of music when moving between game screens

The result is a stronger retro motorsport atmosphere both during management and on race weekends.

LOCALISATION AND SAVE SUPPORT

New race gaps, incident messages, development deployment controls and supplier information have been integrated into the game’s localisation system.

Existing career saves are migrated to support the new available-versus-deployed specification model.

SIMULATION VALIDATION

The updated simulation was tested across a 320-race benchmark, alongside race-gap, lapping, development, supplier, localisation, save/reload and regression testing.

The objective was not simply to increase retirements or random events. The objective was to make the reason behind each result more understandable and more closely connected to what happened on the circuit.

THANK YOU

Update 0.4.8 represents a substantial step forward for Turbo Era Boss.

Race position, strategy, technical development and audio presentation now work together more consistently, giving every decision from Team HQ to the chequered flag greater weight.

We will continue improving Turbo Era Boss throughout Early Access based on testing and player feedback.
