Seize Control 2.5.1 focuses on lower memory usage across the app, richer window and session restore, and easier troubleshooting. Windows and tabs now bring back more of what you had open, the app releases more memory while browsing media-heavy folders and while sitting in the tray, and a new Diagnostics tool makes it easy to share a snapshot of your setup; this update also restores NVIDIA RTX Video enhancements in the player and tidies the right-click menu.
Window & session memory:
- Windows now remember more when you close, reopen, or restart, with the same fidelity as switching tabs - including each tab's back/forward history.
Layout memory:
- The file tree width is now remembered.
- Collapsed and expanded sidebar sections (Pinned, Volumes, Recent) are now remembered.
Media playback:
- Fixed periodic playback hitches in Rich View while inline video or audio is playing.
- Restored NVIDIA RTX Video Super Resolution and HDR in the video player by using square video corners so the GPU keeps the hardware overlay enabled.
Antivirus compatibility:
- Reduced background PowerShell usage when copying and pasting files and listing your drives, which had been triggering false-positive antivirus warnings on some systems.
Context menu:
- The Shell Actions group in the right-click menu is now tucked into its own submenu by default, keeping the menu more compact.
Memory usage:
- Reduced overall memory usage across the app.
- Browsing media-heavy folders uses less memory: grid and folder video and image previews now release their resources when scrolled off screen and reload automatically when they scroll back into view.
- Inline video and audio previews in search results now release memory when scrolled out of view and restore when they come back.
- Large PDFs now stream from disk on demand instead of loading the whole file into memory up front.
- Inactive tabs now release the file viewer's gallery and rebuild it automatically when you return to the tab. Unsaved drafts and your place are preserved.
Tray memory:
- When minimised to the tray, the app now releases more cached data it can rebuild on demand, including file-type icons, folder sizes, "open with" lookups, archive listings, and temporary extracted files.
- The hidden audio host used for App Theme video sound is now released when it stops playing and recreated only when needed.
Diagnostics:
- Added a Diagnostics tool (Advanced settings) that captures a one-click snapshot of app and system info, memory usage, open windows, plugin and OCR worker counts, and tray/audio and graphics status. It shows a compact summary and includes a "Copy report" button so you can paste the full details into a bug report.
