Update 23: The Penultimate Update

major update

Rogue Voltage · build 22265555 · published

On SteamNotes only · this build shipped before we watched the app

Dear tinkerers,

thank you so much for playing Rogue Voltage in Early Access. We are almost at the version 1.0 and it's only because of your support.

Only 41 Steam reviews left (!!) until we can push for "Overwhelmingly Positive". If you're reading this and you've been enjoying the game and you haven't left a review yet, it would be incredibly helpful if you took a minute and wrote a couple of lines!

NEW MODULE META

Lots of new content this update as I'm continuing to analyze the pick statistics and see what designs are fun, powerful and easy to understand.

New module type: Turbine

Turbines are an all-new passive module subtype that trigger on end of turn and charge storage cells, a process that now has the new keyword Induction.

Many of the turbines replace obsolete modules that used to be self-charging cells. Now you can get yourself a proper accumulator or condensator and have it charged by the turbines.

I am quite happy with the new design and I think it works great!

  • Turbine (Rare, replaces Passive Storage Inductor)

  • Turbine: Environmental (Common, replaces Austerity Cell)

  • Turbine: Pacifist (Common, replaces Pacifist Sensor, Pacifist Cell)

  • Turbine: Chromatic (Common, replaces Tricolor Sensor, Tricolor Cell)

  • Turbine: Dissipation (Common, replaces Dissipation Cell)
This one works a bit differently from the other ones but it's still quite useful

New Module Designs:

  • Inflatable Shroom (Toggled, Rare)

  • Rubber Ducky (Passive, Uncommon)

  • Exhaust Pipe (Passive, Common)

  • Coffee Pot (Common)

  • Smog Trap (Uncommon)

  • Storage Magnet (Uncommon)

  • Nitrous Bottle: Grav+ (Uncommon)
New module template similar to the turbine that performs its effect - the freshly templated Random Boost - on beginning of turn.

MODULE REDESIGNS:

  • Nitrous Bottle: Proximity (Passive, Common) - Replaces Proximity Cell

  • Exploiting Generator (Rare) - Replaces Singulary Generator
This one is strong as hell, i'll keep my eyes on it

  • Friendship Cell (Rare) - Replaces Friendship Sensor

  • Monster Cell (Uncommon) - Replaces Monster Sensor

  • Grease Canister
    New Templating: Elemental Debuff
Grease has become more powerful in that blocking a debuff also applies Turbo now.
This is quite strong and fun, try to play around it with Crust or Pollution Generators!

  • Shower Head - Uses new Elemental Debuff Templating and also applies Turbo +1 now

  • Sponge (Common) - Replaces the Huge Metal Fan, new visuals and elemental debuff templating

  • Coil lost the -1 and has been bumped up to rare

  • Windup Modules now only trigger on end of turn, and not on beginning and end of turn

DROP TABLE TWEAKS:

  • Fracture Sensor is now in rare (from uncommon)

  • Factory Sensor is now called Construction Sensor and is in uncommon (from rare)

  • Toggled Storage Charger is now in rare (from uncommon)

  • Toggled Nitro Bottle is now in rare (from uncommon)

CHARACTER TWEAKS:

Time Travel Mech is now called Mecha Slopper and is a character that plays alone!

TWITCH INTEGRATION IS BACK

Activate the integration in the settings, put your channel name and a quick authentification check and hey-presto!

BUGFIXES:

  • Fixed crash when clicking on the Blizzard in Asian languages

  • Fixed crash when wiring circular

This is the last update before 1.0.

What to expect?

I'm working hard on a final final boss challenge for the endgame, we'll have another final set of new modules dropping for 1.0 and an all-new character - Nana Slopper will join the squad!

The 1.0 will launch in a couple of months, i'll make a proper announcement beforehand.
