It's time for a major patch in 9 Kings. One that will address things a lot of you have been asking for, expand the world even further, and introduce a definitive Endless Mode experience. We took our time to rework core backend features to improve performance, and we hope you like it!
Coming from the depths of the realm of Endless Chaos, the Jack of Chaos is ready to invade 9 Land. Frustrated for never having been granted a crown of his own, this powerful Jack swore to wreak havoc on the real kings. The Jack of Chaos stole cards from all other kingdoms and made his own unique deck. A deck of corrupted cards that will help you take Endless Mode to a new level. Once you reach year 34, be ready to face him.
Once you get to Endless Mode, the Jack of Chaos will be among your enemies. And with him, a new deck. The Chaos deck is a spin-off of some fan favorite cards. Those spin-offs are especially powerful and designed for Endless Mode, a moment of the game where power is compounded, plots are taken, and paths are already written. 14 new Tomes will keep Endless Mode fresh and give players a new set of choices to shake things up.
The core experience of 9 Kings consists of 33 years. This is always going to be the core design of the game and everything that comes next. But we know many people enjoy Endless Mode, and we wanted to give it some love. The main goal of this patch is to give people new things to look forward to on their quest toward year 99, and we hope you have fun with it!
This is big. And long overdue. 9 Kings is now more unbreakable than ever, and there's no better time to do a stress test than with an Endless Mode patch. We restructured how troop animations are processed and bundled some processes in the very late game. This update is a real game changer: we have successfully built armies of 99,999+ units on multiple systems. And though hardware limitations will always be a thing, we believe 9 Kings' performance is roughly 5x more solid than in the previous patch.
9 Chaos decrees were added to the game. This new category of corrupted decrees will start appearing after year 33 and will give you trickier choices, especially designed with late game scenarios in mind.
Face the Champions of Chaos. New bosses that you'll have to top on year 66 and 99. *Up next, we'll also be adding some cool death & win animations to all bosses.
Yes, it is here. This is also a long overdue feature, and we hope you have fun. I personally love playing 9 Kings on my couch and have been having a lot of fun using the controller. Please give us your input on your experience. Strategy games and controllers are known to have a bumpy relationship, but we're cracking that code. We're finessing things and will continue to implement QoL features to make controller support as smooth as possible.
If you're not into Endless mode or controllers, here's a little treat: there are 3 new Rainbow cards to keep new strategies coming. More gamebreaking Rainbow cards are also coming soon!
Drastically improved Orbiter projectile performance.
Bottom left corner of the screen is now properly targeteable using your mouse attacks.
Cards in your hand no longer stay popped-up after you hover over them.
Fixed a bug with Oddity decree that gave players +1 card every time they loaded the game.
Speed UI buttons no longer appear during event screens.
Expansion decree now grants you the proper amount of unlocks when used in the same year as an expansion event.
Twinshot decree no longer affects enemy Archers (oops)

You can expect many hotfixes and QoL updates in the coming days. But our next massive milestone is Ranked Mode (working title). We don't want to tell you much about it yet, but as we have shared before, this new game mode might take 9 Kings to a whole new level. We really hope it does and we'll work hard to make it happen. Please give us some time to make sure the new game mode is as fun as you deserve it to be.
