The thief is a brand new class with brand new gameplay coming to the HFI playtest/beta! Let's go through it.
Heists are the main gameplay loop of the thief - break into various areas, triumph over the random encounters, and score some cool stuff! Heists take place in Districts (kind of like Squire dungeons), with each District becoming progressively more challenging.
Complete these encounters by performing different skill checks, based on your thief stats. Expect hidden loot, locks to open, guards to avoid, plus more!
Complete heists for gold and the thief's brand new collectable item: Treasure
Treasures are obtained at the end of a heist - sometimes multiple can be found in one heist!
Treasure grants stats not just for the thief, but other classes as well!
Collect multiple of the same treasure to increase the power of that treasure's primary benefit.
Also unlock additional power at 25%, 50%, and 100% total completion of each treasure. These rewards are different from the treasure's primary benefit.
Gain more Luck on the thief to improve your chances on most encounter checks!
Luck of course interacts with the other classes too! Expect it to buff things that have a chance to happen, like crit.
The thief's primary gameplay is more active in nature, but don't worry! There's substantial idle and offline systems at play too.
Each unlocked District will improve your passive XP and Gold Per Second stats (you start with some passives!), as well as power up your Loot generation.
What is Loot?! Loot is a new currency only generated passively, which you can use to buy copies of treasures you've already found! Use it to hit specific breakpoints or finish off a collection!
While the thief does indeed do "ethical stealing" of gold and treasure, information is also a key item waiting to be found. Discover more about what evil plans are already in motion for this world.
I'm so happy to finally share what I've been cooking up for a quite a while now! Check out the teaser trailer on the Steam page!
HFI is also taking part in its first Valve-hosted Steam festival - Medieval Fest! I'm honored to be part of it and can't wait to share more about the game in the future. If you haven't wishlisted the game on Steam yet, it's a big help. Thanks all!
