Hellsplit: Arena has given us so much - years of work we're proud of, and a community that stayed far longer than we dared hope. It taught us almost everything we know about VR combat.
But the ideas we're most excited about have slowly outgrown what Arena was built to hold. Instead of squeezing them into an aging game, we felt it was time to build something new around them.
We're excited to officially announce that the next chapter in the series will be Hellsplit: Labyrinth, currently scheduled for release in Q1 2027 on both Meta Quest and PC VR.
Hellsplit: Labyrinth is a roguelike VR action RPG that combines Hellsplit's signature physics-based combat with procedurally generated environments, powerful artifacts, new enemies and bosses, RPG progression, and an immersive story.
Development actually began back in 2023.
Originally, Labyrinth was intended to become an expansion campaign for Hellsplit: Arena. However, it quickly became clear that the technical limitations of Arena made our vision impossible to realize. Development slowed to a halt, and eventually we had no choice but to pause the project while focusing on another game.
This year, we finally found the opportunity to return to Labyrinth.
The only way to fully realize our vision, however, was to develop it as a standalone title.
Games like ours live on the strength of the people around them. The interest you show early on shapes more than you'd think - how far Hellsplit: Labyrinth reaches, what platforms it can grow onto, even whether it makes it to PlayStation VR2 one day.
And beyond this one game, that support is simply what keeps a small studio like ours alive. It's what lets us keep making the kind of games we want to make, project after project.
