The top of every screen is one row now
The House screen used to spend its first four hundred pixels on a title, a
paragraph of numbers and a panel of four stacked buttons. All of that is one
row across the top: your resources, the House name on a scroll, your banner,
and four buttons.
The screens below it gained around a hundred and fifty pixels each.
The forge cards now show their price and their requirement without scrolling.
The road fork shows all three roads and their costs at once. Outfitting shows
six cities where it showed three.
Drawn, not drawn on
Names sit on parchment. Buttons are tooled leather in a bronze frame. The
eight tabs of the House have eight symbols - a hearth, a yurt, a walled gate,
two banners, three men, a carved stele, the moon and sun, a sealed scroll -
where before they had none at all, because the strip dropped them whenever
there were more than six.
Several of these move. The caravan button walks. The forge burns, the purse
tips, the scales swing, the sack settles. They are six-frame loops, drawn for
this and nothing else.
A search box
Forty goods, eleven cities, six roles. Type into the box above the grid when
outfitting and it filters as you type - names and descriptions both, so
searching for silk finds the brocade that is made of it.
What moved where
- The season is now a picture on the name scroll. Hover it for the full
sentence - what season, how long it lasts, and what it does to the road. - Treasury, journeys and best profit moved to the Escape menu, under the
line that says where you are. They change once a journey; they were being
read a hundred times and looked at none. - The day's march is two buttons side by side rather than two stacked rows.
It is one decision with two answers, and it now looks like one. - The caravan you open mid-journey is a button on the same plate as the
rest. It was the only control in that row that did anything, and it was
drawn like the numbers beside it.
Fixed
- The forge line was unreadable. Measured against its background it
came out at a contrast of 1.7 where 4.5 is the threshold for readable text.
The colour was baked into all twelve translations, which is why every
attempt to fix it in the interface did nothing at all. - An option's consequences are bigger on the card and now carry their
symbols into the tooltip as well, instead of a sentence of colons. - The House name can no longer stretch the header off the edge of the
window. You are allowed twenty-eight characters; twenty-eight of them used
to push the buttons past the right-hand edge and take the rest of the screen
with them.
