CARDED: Groups to Glory · published · build 25007243

Update 1.3 is now live for CARDED: Groups to Glory.
This is one of the biggest updates to the game so far, focused on making every run feel more alive, more connected to the tournament around you and more distinctive from the moment you choose your nation.
Update 1.3 introduces the Living Tournament, rebuilt Team Identities, rebalanced national squads, dynamic Weather, player Form, expanded statistics and awards, fan expectations, historical fixture context, richer match presentation and another major reliability and polish pass.
At its core, Update 1.3 is about making the tournament feel like a world that exists beyond your own matches.
The tournament now develops around you throughout the run.
Other nations play their own fixtures alongside your campaign, allowing the competition to evolve whether or not your team is directly involved.
The Living Tournament includes:
AI-controlled tournament results
evolving group standings
qualification and knockout progression
tournament-wide goals, assists and clean sheets
Player of the Match tracking
live tournament leaderboards
provisional awards during the tournament
final tournament awards
historical and alternate-history tournament results
tournament records and milestones
expanded match and tournament history
Run Information has been significantly expanded so you can follow what is happening across the competition rather than only seeing your own results.
The tournament should now feel much more like a complete football competition instead of a sequence of isolated player matches.
All playable national squads have received a major balance pass.
Hundreds of players have been reviewed and rebalanced to create clearer differences between nations and more distinctive squad structures.
Strong nations now feel meaningfully stronger, weaker nations have more obvious limitations, and individual squads can be built around very different strengths.
You may encounter:
genuine star players
reliable all-rounders
clear weak links
attack-heavy squads
defensive teams
balanced nations
teams built around one or two exceptional players
The goal is for choosing a nation to meaningfully change the shape of your run before you have even played your first match.
All 48 playable nations now feature expanded Team Identities.
Rather than simply providing small passive bonuses, identities are designed around recognisable strengths, weaknesses and strategic tendencies.
Different nations can now encourage different approaches to:
squad development
tactical choices
resource management
player progression
match preparation
Team Identity is intended to make managing Argentina feel different from managing Japan, Ghana, Scotland, Panama or any other playable nation.
New runs now begin with an expanded Welcome Press Conference.
Your answers help establish the early direction of your campaign and can influence how your nation approaches the tournament.
Questions can challenge you to decide whether to:
embrace your country's traditional strengths
compensate for existing weaknesses
place faith in key players
manage public expectations
favour development or immediate success
take a more ambitious or cautious approach
The aim is to give each campaign more personality from the opening moments.
Supporters now have a stronger presence throughout the run.
Each nation enters the campaign with its own expectations based on factors such as team strength, reputation and tournament outlook.
Your results are increasingly judged relative to what supporters expected from the team.
An underdog exceeding expectations should feel different from a tournament favourite scraping through qualification.
Fan reactions can contribute to the movement of:
Hype
Pressure
Morale
This creates more context around results beyond simply whether the match was won or lost.
Players can now enter HOT and COLD Form.
Strong performances can create short-term momentum, while difficult stretches can temporarily work against a player.
Form is:
visible directly on player cards
tracked across multiple matches
influenced by player performance
tied into match statistics and individual performances
temporary rather than permanent development
This creates another layer of squad management alongside permanent attributes and Training Cards.
A player who catches fire at the right moment can become one of the defining stories of a run.
Matches can now take place under a wide range of Weather conditions.
Weather is generated from the fixture's location, date and climate profile and remains consistent whenever that fixture is revisited.
Conditions can include different levels of:
clear weather
heat
cold
rain
heavy rain
humidity
wind
storms
Weather can influence areas such as:
player attributes
tactical approaches
Fitness
match preparation
The effects are designed to create tactical flavour without allowing random conditions to decide matches on their own.
Match Preview now displays the current Weather clearly, with detailed gameplay effects available on hover.
Individual match performances now matter beyond the final score.
Matches can now generate and track:
goals
assists
clean sheets
Player of the Match awards
player ratings
These statistics follow players throughout the tournament and feed into live leaderboards and awards.
A dominant striker, creative midfielder or goalkeeper can now build their own tournament story alongside the team's campaign.
The Living Tournament now tracks the competition's leading performers.
Run Information includes leaderboards covering areas such as:
top goalscorers
top assist providers
clean sheets
Player of the Match awards
The tournament also maintains provisional awards while the competition is underway, allowing you to see which players are currently leading the major categories.
Final award winners are determined as the tournament concludes.
CARDED now remembers more of what happens throughout the competition.
Tournament systems track important information and achievements that can be used throughout the current run and future development of the game.
This includes milestones such as:
qualification achievements
knockout progression
deep tournament runs
Finals appearances
championships
major player performances
scoring achievements
clean-sheet achievements
important team records
Update 1.3 lays much of the statistical foundation for future storytelling and historical systems.
Post-match presentation has received a major upgrade.
The new Match Story report gives you a clearer snapshot of what actually happened during the match.
Reports can include:
the final score
goalscorers
assists
player ratings
Player of the Match
clean sheets
current player Form
venue and Weather context
This makes individual matches easier to understand and gives standout player performances more visibility.
Match Preview has been rebuilt and expanded throughout development of Update 1.3.
The panel now presents more useful match context while remaining compact, including:
opponent information
home and away presentation
neutral-site handling
fixture location
date
Weather
difficulty
performance requirement
Elite effects where applicable
Weather information has also been simplified so the preview remains readable, with detailed modifiers moved into tooltips.
Run Information has grown into a much more complete overview of your campaign.
You can now review areas including:
your run overview
completed and upcoming fixtures
detailed match information
knockout progression
tournament statistics
provisional awards
player leaderboards
global modifiers
Weather and fixture context
Historical match details can also be revisited throughout the campaign.
Matchday presentation has received another major polish pass.
Improvements include:
clearer home and away presentation
stable neutral-site presentation
improved Match Preview hierarchy
redesigned Match Story reports
cleaner top-bar layouts
better long-stage-name handling
clearer Weather presentation
improved tooltips
improved player-card Form presentation
stronger visual consistency across post-match screens
The goal has been to make more information available without overwhelming the player.
A substantial amount of Update 1.3 has also been spent behind the scenes improving reliability.
Work has been completed across areas including:
save and resume behaviour
graceful application exits
reward completion routing
tournament state consistency
fixture resolution
player identity consistency
match history
Form persistence
Coaching Style persistence
Weather persistence
tournament statistics
result processing
long-run stability
Many of these changes may not be immediately visible, but they are important foundations for larger and more complex campaigns.
Update 1.3 also includes another broad interface and quality pass.
Improvements include:
expanded Run Information
improved Fixtures presentation
improved Match Details
clearer tournament statistics
improved Glossary presentation
redesigned Match Story
cleaner Match Preview information
improved hover tooltips
improved player-card presentation
improved top-bar spacing
improved post-match flow
improved reward completion behaviour
improved controller and UI handling
numerous smaller visual fixes
numerous stability fixes
A significant amount of outdated and unused project content has also been cleaned up as part of the release preparation for Update 1.3.
Update 1.3 adds a huge amount of information for CARDED to understand about each run.
The game now knows far more about:
who your nation is
what your supporters expect
how your players are performing
where matches are taking place
what conditions they are being played in
what is happening elsewhere in the tournament
who is leading the individual awards
which teams are progressing
what your players have achieved
That foundation opens the door for future updates to make even greater use of the stories created naturally during every campaign.
Thank you to everyone who has continued playing, reporting bugs and sharing feedback.
Update 1.3 is the largest step yet toward making every CARDED: Groups to Glory campaign feel like its own evolving international football story.
There is still plenty more planned, and the systems introduced in this update give us a much stronger foundation to continue building on.
Good luck with your next run — and good luck chasing the trophy.
