August 16 Weekly Update: Faction Adjustments Reach the Halfway Mark; New Features Coming Soon

Hello everyone! This is Tenkajin IceCream, developer of TOHOTOPIA!

Here is an update on my partner’s and my development work this week (August 10–16).

Faction Adjustments and New Faction Development

The overall Hakurei Empire rework is now about 50% complete. We have greatly streamlined its mechanics, retaining and strengthening the fun parts while removing redundant, fiddly details. The smaller-scale Scarlet Empire adjustment is also about halfway complete.

Development of the sixth faction, the Myouren Empire, is progressing as planned. At our current pace, we expect to introduce it around mid-September!

Several Supporting Features in Development

Alongside faction development, we completed or advanced several supporting features this week.

First is “Empire Timeline,” a feature that records each empire’s history during a match. It will let you revisit how a match unfolded step by step after it ends, rather than seeing only the final result.

The Library now has a new “Cities” section, providing a new place to explore the game’s city content. We also added a “Layer Filter” to the game, making it quicker to switch views and easier to inspect map information.

More Map and Combat Improvements

We continued improving map generation and further refined damage previews for greater accuracy.

We also added optional “City-States” and “Barbarian Camps” to the map settings, bringing more variety to neutral territories and making each map more varied to explore.

A Small Diversion While You Wait: Lucky White Rabbit Game Room

Some players told us that waiting during a match can sometimes take a while and become a little dull. To help, we built the very lightweight “Lucky White Rabbit Game Room,” offering casual minigames to pass the time. It is not a huge new system, just a little extra fun while you wait for the next action.

New Version Planned for Next Week

We are also continuing our regular work on bug fixes, UI pop-up and display issues, and translation improvements.

If development and testing continue smoothly, we plan to release a new version next week. Final included content will be detailed in the release notes, so please bear with us a little longer!
