The Hive 1.6.1 Major Update

Hello everyone!

We have released a major update for The Hive.

This update focuses on new language support, localized achievements and store pages, UI improvements, smoother camera controls, gameplay fixes, and improved support for different store versions.

Localization

• Added new translations for multiple languages, including Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
• Added translated subtitles for many dialogue sections, including Derelict Ship, Drowned God, Shadow, Start, and more.
• Language changes now apply instantly without needing to restart the game.
• Achievement names and descriptions have been localized for all supported languages.
• Updated fonts to better support different languages and improve readability.

UI and Menu Improvements

• Updated the Options menu UI with new graphics, scroll handles, buttons, backgrounds, and other visual improvements.
• Updated the Main Menu with a clearer font for better readability.
• Added new Main Menu icons and selection animations.
• Added a new wishlist button to the Demo main menu.
• Updated the graphics for the volume slider.
• Added the updated The Hive logo to the game.
• Updated the Demo ending scene with new completion text and buttons.
• Save/load menus, difficulty labels, map names, confirmation popups, and other dynamic UI elements now update correctly when changing language.
• Many UI elements now scale properly across different resolutions.
• Added sound effects to dropdown menus.
• Fixed an issue where button highlight sounds could spam repeatedly.

Camera and Controls

• Reworked camera movement and camera angles to feel smoother during gameplay.
• Camera movement is no longer tied to FPS.

Gameplay Improvements

• Simplified the Map 02 puzzle to make it clearer and smoother to complete.
• Projectiles can now use a vertical firing angle when shooting.
• Enemy ranged projectiles now explode on the target collider instead of the middle point of the target model.
• Target circles are now visible on top of water.
• Projectiles now remain visible when moving over the water shader.

Achievements and Pickups

• Achievements now unlock properly again.
• Gold pile pickups now correctly count toward achievement progress.
• Updated several gold pickup popups to use the newer popup style.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue where building multiple Burrows could sometimes break the population cap counter and prevent the player from increasing their unit cap further.
• Fixed a Mission 4 issue where the tooltip could permanently disappear after the cutscene following the first Hive construction.
• Fixed a potential Survival Mode softlock that could happen when the player had 40 or more unit groups.
• Removed one Worker from the first level that was incorrectly placed there.
• Removed an incorrect buff aura from the Behemoth.

Store and Build Improvements

• Localized the Steam store pages for The Hive, The Hive Demo, and Survival Mode across all supported languages on Steam.
• Improved support for different store versions of the game.
• Steam-related features now behave more safely on non-Steam builds.
