Bingo Betty 1.0.3

Some small fixes here and there, with a little adjustment to some dialogue appearances to make them a little less out-of-place, and a little more understandable. To clarify, the game has a number of what i call "Cameo" Dialogues, where you can catch a glimpse of goings-on in other places around the hall. These are meant to be a reward as well as a comedic break from the action, but many of these were popping in the middle of combat and otherwise really uncanny places that made them just feel awkward. I have also added a way of marking when a cameo is taking place, so you can differentiate the current run-relevant story dialogue from these little vignettes.

Cameos Know Their Place Now

  • The little scenes about everyone who is not you used to wander in wherever they pleased. Mid-shop. Mid-boss-fight. Wherever. Now they only turn up as a round begins, and only on rounds where nobody else had something to say first.

  • They introduce themselves properly too: the narrator sets the scene, and a MEANWHILE... tag hangs over the box, so you know the camera left your table on purpose.

  • The Storybook Library now tells you where each of these scenes can actually appear, instead of shrugging.

One small balance change

  • I have noticed that with certain items, stacking blotter uses basically leads to having infinite blotters to purchase. I want you to benefit from these items, but not so much it breaks the run. I have instituted a universal cap of 9 ink to all purchasable blotters from the shop. If this becomes too restrictive I may look in to upping this cap or maybe even adding items that allow you to go past this, we'll see how the ink dries.

Bugfixes

  • The star rows on the character select and in the Collection now update the moment you earn them. Previously they waited for a restart, out of modesty.

  • Hank No longer appears twice in the collection's character stats page.

  • Fixed a few lifetime/character stat tracking inconsistencies in the collection.

  • Boss fights are no longer interrupted by unrelated conversations. The bosses were not enjoying it either.

  • Fixed the board slowly ending up crooked mid-round. If a shuffle ball landed while a gravity ball was still dragging the card around, the card could get stuck partway and stay that way for the rest of the round. It sits straight now.

  • Robo balls granted by the Service Dog Pin now look like robo balls instead of flat gray spheres with a number on them.

  • A couple of ways the screen shake could leave the whole view nudged sideways are gone.

  • Controller players can no longer get stranded on the results or game over screen when nothing has focus. Pressing A always moves you along now.

For the Steam Deck Crowd

We know there are occasional crashes on Deck and we are hunting them. If you wish to report your issues, please head on over to the discord and add a bug tracking thread, so I may err.. track.. it. Until then, keep the reports coming however they reach me! I don't have a deck myself (yet) so I really do appreciate any news of people playing it on theirs successfully!

An update on the Official Soundtrack

I have heard that many of you enjoy the music of Bingo Betty, and i can't be more happy! Making music has been a passion of mine ever since I was a small child playing around on garageband. I want to be able to bring you guys the whole retirement hell experience, but I am still currently awaiting the album art to be finished. It is a personal piece of art being done by someone very close to me, so i want to give them ample time to complete it to their vision, so thank you for understanding! In addition there are a few tracks on there that I can be almost certain nobody has reached yet, as I'm sure I'll know when someone is the first to complete a fever 10 run... Anyways, thank you so much for playing the game and enjoying the music, i know i say "it means a lot" every 5 seconds but this one really does MEAN ALOT to me (lol). When it's ready to go, I will be distributing the soundtrack through apple music, spotify, youtube music, etc. I will also be looking in to adding it to steam as well!Thank you so much for playing my game! Now get back to abusing those blotters! (within reason, now!)
